  1. Re:DOes it work ? on Honda Crash Detection System · · Score: 1

Well, the parent post to mine was talking about what if the car was on the road, in front of a big 18-wheeler, when the front sensors sensed danger and decided to brake? The semi will roll over you. Sure, it was the semi driver's fault, but you're paying for it. But with a system that can see what's going on behind the car, there's less chance of that happening. Well, maybe they can build a radar that can see how big the car behind it is, but to judge the car's value, the human brain is still the best. :)

Sounds like you need James Bond's BMW, the one with the Stinger misilles.

A trick I learnt to fend off tailgaters; you can just turn on your lights and then off quickly, because the taillight share the same housing as the brakelights, it should be enough to cause panic to a guy moving at a high speed behind you. The brake light mounted on the back window doesn't light up, of course, but I guess seeing the main "brake" lights light up is enough of a distraction so that said jackass wouldn't be worrying why your third brake light didn't light up.

  3. Re:DOes it work ? on Honda Crash Detection System · · Score: 3, Insightful

Maybe the car should have a radar at the back as well, taking into account what will happen if it suddenly brakes. A predictive system should probably turn on the brake lights (although no actual braking is taking place) just in case it really needs to break soon right after.

In the long run this is a good thing, because along with the criminals come ever more people willing to work even harder to make their lives better, now that they know a better life does exist.

Jesus Fucking Christ, it's a sorry thing that some people equate money and wealth to a better life, and that working hard to earn more will make them happier. It's that capitalist brainwashing that make your believe that busting your ass for a car, home theater, computer, big house, etc makes you *happier*. They're only things, which you'll probably find boring after 1 month of owning!

Mein Gott, I think the people of Bhutan were happy enough without television (yes that's the ignorance is bliss part), but I guess now they see stars on TV who have loads of money and nice cars and their problems are easily solved and they're always happy at the end of the 1/2, 1 or 2 hour show, and the Bhutanese think, wow money does make you happier!

Fuck Rupert Murdoch, this sort of shit makes we wanna go Fight Club.

Apple's biggest competitors are probably the likes of Dell, Gateway and HP/Compaq, which do make "IBM compatibles", but IBM doesn't get a cent from them. Aah the good old days, when x86 clones were called "IBM compatibles", they strove to achieve "100% compatibility" too, whatever that meant. How is IBM doing in the desktop/notebook business anyway? Their notebooks are pretty nice, but as other people have mentioned, the right hand at IBM doesn't know what the other hands are doing.

Anyway, as I was going to bed last night, I got to wonder about the CRLF (DOS) vs CR (Unix) vs LF (Macs) incompatibility. Now that Apple has switched to Unix, anyone know if they have switched to using CR as their new newline symbol?
