Get a free machine as long as you are on this specific internet provider that spams you constantly?...And isn't he suggesting that software will in some ways be more expensive than the hardware enough to pay for it?
It is possible to find it on your own. I spent hours not playing the game but just screwing with the world. The magic dot wasn't obvious but since objects would flicker when you had more than one in a room you would know there was something odd about the one room in the maze in the black castle. That's how I found the dot... The dot was always in the same place so it was easy to pick up once you found it. It took me ages to accidentally walk though the walls near the yellow castle.

Does this mean in the future we will have robots that will digest humans???
And you thought the movie Hardware was bad!
Isn't 2 an even number?
I am all for reverse engineering and choice...
That's why I run Real-Alternative for playing real files and wouldn't take a song from real if it was given to be for free.
I just loathe Real... and thats my choice.
Shill T. Ferret?
I hope the company I work for pick up on this trend...
Then I might eventually get free parking and paper towels!
*Grumbles about cheap-ass companies*
> Hell, Columbus crossed the Atlantic Ocean without it.
He was one of those new-age hippies wasn't he?
I kinda find it painful that we put more money into cigarettes than we do trying to go to other planets.
I wonder if we will die out on this rock and never get to colonize other planets.
Yeah... We have our priorities well sorted out.. *Grumble*
Everybody seems to be missing the reason for this.

While their service sucked AND they were annoying us with switch calls the real culprit was Bush and the FCC.

They got rid of the regulations about unbundling the local copper so the local carrier can charge AT&T whatever they want.
Expect others to leave that market soon as well.
I thought local shows have been doing this for years with contests?
"Just write down the the name of the visitor in today's show and send a postcard to Win a CAR P.O. blah blah..."
I seem to remember these as far back as the 80's.
That and local news pulling similar tricks to get you to watch.
This seems and interesting concept... But could they PLEASE not use light grey text on a white backround.
This thing is hurting my eyes.
I got a job in downtown LA and due to the need to save money I am taking the train. (Yes there *IS* mass-transit in southern California!)
Since this change I am on to my 24'th book at a rate of 6 per month.
I have never expected this change but I do love using that normally wasted time to do something fun.
I wonder if it is the lack of the right kind of time that people are not reading as much.
The free soda is always first to go... *Sigh*
When paper towels are no longer supplied you know the company is in serious trouble.
I always pay for my one Cellphone, Pager and Internet.
I would rather not have them controlled by the company I work for and possibly bound to the company rules of use.
Same goes for my home broadband.
As for after hour contact... Oh the joy's of CallerID.
Funny... I find the task grouping one of the features that I can't live without.
Letting the task bar go to 3 or 4 levels is a pain.
I think this is why I won't let anybody work on my computer as I don't like my setting messed with.
It is working more or less. The volume of calls my home would get was reaching insane levels I would say about 6 or 7 calls a day (many in a row).
We still get calls but the amount has dropped. The ones that have called I tend to confront and I tend to vent all my anger at.
The last one claimed that I had to re-list myself on the do not call list every 3 months.
I had to go to the do-not call site and check my number... It expires in 2008.
Nice to know some of them just don't even bother to check the list. I may just file a complaint myself.
These are all re-financing calls BTW.
Last year I worked tech at some of the press shows around Comdex and since I hadn't been to Comdex in years I just HAD to make it to the show.
Nothing went right... Time was not in my favor but I managed on my last day to make it to the main show.
With only 6 hours left to my trip I went into the show and saw it all in 2 hours.
At least I had Vegas to check out for the rest of the time.
If this was on fark would we be using the [Obvious] tag?
Sorry, But I would think at this time people shouldn't be sticking their machines raw on the net no matter what OS unless it needs to be there.
It's just not good practice to install your OS raw on the internet as well...
Do you install your linux box raw on the net before you have a chance to secure it?
If so... Whats your IP address? *Grin*
Would it be a good idea to just lynch companies that are trying to make products like this before they make it to market?
Didn't this idea flop during the Internet Bubble?
Get a free machine as long as you are on this specific internet provider that spams you constantly?
Yeah right.
I started using my MP3 player when I got a job in downtown L.A.
I just couldn't stand dodging people begging for money so I started wearing the player as a shield.
Personal music is one way to get the world to back off a bit.
After spending a year out of work you soon learn there is no such thing as spare change.
