You are mostly right, if by "script kiddies" you mean those who really just want to "play". Any kiddie worth 1/2 his, or her, bragging rights would have long ago downloaded one of the commercial applications that does pretty much the same thing.
But, I think he is looking for a "personal" solution; the scale is different, I think. Also, I would assume he is also working on the conservation side.
I've been running Suse 9.0 of a SATA drive from "day one". It's a matter of which SATA chipset you have on your MB, rather than SATA or no SATA. (Gigabyte MB with KT600 chipset here.)
Actually my friend and I _did_ just that in 1999 in Hiroshima. One of my students at the time was a cop and recognized my helmet and my jacket - I had put the licence on my bike. The next time he was in my class he told me how frustrated, yet ammused, they had been at the cop shop. He, of course, didn't mention that he knew who the rider was, he was young and a bit wild himself. But, this being Japan, he would have anyway been embarassed to let the others know that his "sensei" was a "bad boy gaijin".
I would say that whether a slow moving police vehicle makes a difference depends on where you are. On the days I commute by motorcycle I sledom make it to work without passing a couple cop cars, almost always on left, between them and the sidewalk. More often then not, someone on a scooter is lane splitting and passing them on the right at the same time. NORMAL everyday Tokyo traffic. And, yes, it's illegal to do so.
Good point, but I see prices that are only 10-15% more for gigabit gear. So, why not buy now? (Yes, I am talking about PCI 32 NICs, so they top out at about 350 or so; but they really are only a coupe/few $$ more than the cheap ass 100 RTL cards.)
Actually, I like cotton Ts. The level of wetness is an easy way for me to see how much effort I put into the run; T is soaked to my navel, medium effort, T is completely wet, high effort. Yes the heart monitor can tell me that too, but the weight of the T after the run is a "satisfiying" thing. That's me anyway.
You don't say? Lets see, I: 1.eat less than 1800 Kcal a day - low fat, low/med carbs. 2.commute to work by bicycle 2-3 times a week - 22K one way 3.swim _and_ run 4-5 times a week - 1K swim followed by 5-6 K run
So, you are saying that my being 15+ Kg over my ideal weight is because I am lazy? Damn. I got to do something about that, don't I?:-)
and why not? Talking to some guy/gall in India whose accent it all but inintelligible can't be any worse than talking to some of teh IRS "help" staff. Sure the locally grown moro^H^H^H^H employee enunciates better, but at the end of the call I still have no idea if I have a lot of mony coming my way, or whether I have to run away from the country.
And, I am not even an USian, I just have the good fortune of having some income/property there.
Same here... almost. I am right handed; after many years of mousing a couple hours' use will result in serious discomfort. So, now I do left hand mousing at work, and right hand mousing at home. Problem solved. I hope.
I think that you don't really know what you are talking about. Japan spends MASSIVELY on the military. Look it up, and you'll be surprised. If not for the major political fallout that would ensue, Japan could go nuclear within a year, and some say closer to six months. The only area whwre Japan is still somewhat lacking is in "homemade" long range delivery systems - their Tanegashima launches have been less than spectacular.
Sorry, I am too lazy to look the links up right now, but, there certainly are companies selling exactly what you want. I see their kits in Akihabara(*) all the time.
(*)Akihabara, for those who don't know, is the ultimate geek town, in Tokyo.
Yesterday I picked up an 8 port gig switch for 7900 yen, which is just over US$ 70. I also picked up a bunch of gig NICs for 1700 yen each(*)...you do the math for US$.
So, now my epia based boxes are totally quiet, as they boot of the LAN and mount everything over NFS. For my small - 6 epias 1 server - network it's working perfectly. YMMV
(*) These are cheap, but not RTL based NICS. So, performance is decent, even though they are in 32 bit PCI slots.
I don't even want to get into how misguided that was. One could get in serious trouble... Also, no need to do that. Get your knife checked in as a "security checked item" and you can relax. Basically, this means you hand them the knife and they put it in an envelope, which they return to you at the other end. (Just make sure at the other end you are OK to carry said knife... had to argue for a long time with an over zealous Sydney customs guy who thought my diving knife was to big. He eventually gave up; I was right and willing to make as big a fuss as necessary.)

Welcome to 1986; "Thunder" used to do that on my 1040ST.
Yet, KDE _is_ more advanced, as there is still no decent Windows solution...

No semi-demi-gods need apply.
So, you are saing only than anyone who is > 25% God can play. Fine with me, let's talk.

Beast, moi? Well, now that you mention it, yes. And your point was ???

Absolutely true. Truer words has no one ever said. Listen to the man, leave nature alone and pile up in the big exciting cities.
... OK, I will sacrifice. I hope this will gain me a place in heaven.
Now, being that someone has to stay back and keep an eye on things

300 GB drives for 25779 yen around here. That's about 235 us, and prices just inched up a bit because of the exchange.

RAV if I recall correctly. So, to most people, this is not really news.
err ...no?
In my part of the US one uses the ten fingers and the two teeth.
Even better, after they sue themselves and lose they have set legal precedent. :-)
