My 3.5 year old broke her arm at the playground, and I was very proud of her. We made the whole thing, including the hospital trip all part of the fun.
It does seem that the playgrounds are becoming less fun, but I let my kid do all sorts of stupid things, so the way I see it, as an adult she'll be at an advantage over her peers.
Reinforced and 'locked' cockpit doors are things that should have naturally been implemented into design by common sense. That would be passive security that works on its own without further human intervention after fabrication and production.
See I don't see it that way.
When I was a child (~10 years old) I would fly solo to Britan (Belfast to be specific) and back every summer.
I had a "British Airways Junior Pilot Flight Log Book" that I would get filled out and signed by the Captain during my visit INTO the cockpit.
So at a time when Irish/British tensions were high with soldiers with fully automatic weapons roaming the streets and daily bomb blasts. A young child could still go inside the cockpit and have a conversation.
My children can no longer do that, which means "The terrorists have won"
If government rules make it impossible to have comfortable flight, why should an airline even try to make the flight comfortable? (fedex can ship 200 pounds of meat cheaper than american airlines)*
*might not actually be true, but I am sure some bean counter is thinking it
I actually prefer non-university grads when I am hiring. I Got burned too many times with grads that tooks computers because of there is money in IT but they are not actually interested in computers (and therefore not interested in learning more )
This is already happening at my (tech) company. Our "LAN" department knows that XP's support with expire, and if they don't start replacing them now they will have a large userbase with no code-support.
Developers and sysadmins were always allowed to run linux. Now anyone else can via a supported corporate image. if you don't want linux (Sales, Product Managers, etc) you now get a MacOSX laptop or desktop.
This has impacted other Software vendors, Our ticketing system with a windows client (dev/sysadmins rdesktopped in to use) got replaced with a cross platform solution.
I think in 2 years we will be windows free, previously 60-75% of the employees were windows users. The reasons for this was the LAN department hates MacOSX less than Vista, and people heard all the buzz about Macs and were willing to give it a shot.
Wow, I just read your parent. That was awesome. I expect he is telling the truth about working for the Canadian Federal government, you know the one that shutdown electronic tax returns do to capacity problems?
Also doesn't $100/hr seem like chump change? Interestingly enough I billed that when I was in my early 20s, so perhaps you are correct when guessing his age.
Shame he didn't say "Future Proof" because that would have just made my day.
I just finished Monkey Island 2 last night, and Monkey Island 1 last week, and will start MI3 tonight, and I have to say, they are every bit as good as they were brand new.
I eat my steaks Blue, unfortunately when I visit the US, It is really hard to find a place that willing to do it. however I will NEVER eat hamburger raw. because the bacteria is all mixed it (as another poster mentioned.)
In germany you can get raw pork, (they do have strict food prep regulations for it )
Yes I find that people over cook many things, Yes they comment on how gross my food looks, Yes i have converted ppl over to the "raw side", No i dont bother and tell ppl that their shoe leather steak looks gross.
Scientific Law: This is a statement of fact meant to explain, in concise terms, an action or set of actions. It is generally accepted to be true and univseral, and can sometimes be expressed in terms of a single mathematical equation. Scientific laws are similar to mathematical postulates. They don't really need any complex external proofs; they are accepted at face value based upon the fact that they have always been observed to be true.
Theory: A theory is more like a scientific law than a hypothesis. A theory is an explanation of a set of related observations or events based upon proven hypotheses and verified multiple times by detached groups of researchers. One scientist cannot create a theory; he can only create a hypothesis.
Now with that out of the way,
The Theory Of Evolution can also be stated as The Law of Natural Selection
unfortunately you need to say away from ATI video cards too. I had to find a geforce4 440MX for my test-system because my ati 9700pro just wasnt going to work well enough.
also the Hauppage card is a good beginner card as it has lots of documentation, however plextor has a better device http://www.plextor.com/english/products/TV402U.htm that "Hardware Encode to DivX, MPEG-4, MPEG-2/DVD and MPEG-1/VCD" as well as a "better" tuner.
there are linux drivers and mythtv supports it, but not many ppl have gotten it (yet).
but the HDTV tuner cards cost a lot more so "reviewer's" usually dont spring for them for the project of the month.
I am currently running in HDTV mode @ 720p. Cant seem to get 1080i currently (i think my 1080i mode line is wrong) however for 1080i you need a athlon 3000+ (or equiv) and a semi modern Nvidia card to have it played back full screen.
Security through obscurity never works. The only thing putting on the news does is create outrage until the problem is fixed. "criminals" (and kryptonite) knew about the u-lock bic pen weakness for _years_ (2-3) now that it is on the news, kryptonite is replacing the defective ones.
now maybe the banks will ask the client for their goverment papers that proves they registered the bussiness.
DONT get me wrong this is impressive, but it the things other then speed. The land speed could have been safely left out.
125MPH is not impressive, I have done that on my 500cc "beginner" bike (that blackout last summer where the police were direct traffic at lights instead of handing out speeding tickets). And I did 110MPH in my stock ford focus (before I chickened out)
I am aware that it is a dual purpose vehicle but an underpan should improve the land speed of a car.

It seems to me that RMS is doing damage control, he is disassociating GNU from linux so when linux "goes down in flames" GNU will live on (perferably with a GNU kernel. I got that feeling from his article that I couldn't bother to finish reading. Did anyone else get that feeling? Did he finish the article defending linux ?
What he needs to do is merge with the USB ID list and simple call it "peripheral device IDs". that keeps him out of legal hot water (one would hope)
One more question, what are the chances of a DCMA based C&D letter for having a compiled list of IDs? I think it is unlikely however I have been proven wrong before with the DMCA.

haha Mac store not app store my bad
I just checked my iTune receipts, I got opera on May 08th 2010.
"Opera Mini Web browser v5.0.1, Seller:
Opera Software ASA (17+)"
I am in Canada so perhaps it was blocked by At&t?
I am starting to think the airlines want this.

$2112.43 != $500
I would also expect to pay a lot more than $100 for painted rims. its $50 just to take them off, unmount tire, remount tire and back on bike.
