  1. Well thank God! on Finally: Broadband for the Commodore 64 · · Score: 5, Funny

Logitech has come out with one earlier this year. You can get them for the DC and XBox as well (AFAIK re XBox). Its not enough to make me want to go over to a console, but its a start.

  3. Heh on New Microsoft Worm Coming Soon? · · Score: 1

I don't know why but the title makes this sound soooo exciting! I mean "New Microsoft Worm Coming Soon?" . Almost like a pending release of some new exciting software. I guess its the whole "Comming Soon" that triggers the reaction. Gotta stop watching movie trailers I guess :)

  4. Blech! on Lowrider Game Announced, Gets Official Bounce · · Score: 1

  5. Heh on Astronomers Upset About Asteroid Panic · · Score: 5, Insightful

This really isn't anything new. The amount of sensationalism that is poured through journalism now is gotten silly. It has really become a form of entertainment, rather than a reliable source of information. Its really too bad that you have to take the news with a grain of salt generally, since everything is jumping to conclusions, rather than giving you the facts and leaving out the opinions.

  6. Re:Canada-Runs! on Canada Immune From RIAA? · · Score: 1

  7. Re:The RIAA sucks on RIAA Settles With 12-Year-Old Downloader · · Score: 1

Yes they do suck, so instead of just complaining about it, do something.

Don't buy RIAA CD's, or goto places like emusic that is RIAA free.

If you can't find the music download it if you have to, however go the extra step, locate the band of the music you downloaded and cut *THEM* a cheque.

Let them see the power of this distribution method.

Actually you know your right, and deep down I felt the same all along, I guess it was just a bit of bitter resentment left over from this morning when my PC wouldn't boot into Windows for some God for seen reason, and when it did Morrowind ran like sludge.

Being able to upgrade and change components is truly the power of a PC over a console. However there are great arguments for either side PC/Console (I personally prefer PC, but thats me) which I won't get into as this isn't the place. In the end, it really gets down to what you prefer.

If I still had moderator points left, I'd mod my original post down to "Whiny bitch" :)

  13. Whew! on Deus Ex - Invisible War Explored · · Score: 1, Offtopic

Here I was worried it was going to be " Deus Ex - Invisible Title".

The Xbox version is going to be further optimized as development is finished.

Grrr that is the one draw back IMHO to PC games. For PC's you gotta make the game "generic" so that it will work with all systems. Wheras you know the hardware configuration of a console, so you can optimize the heck out of it.

Sigh, if only standards were rules, in the PC world, rather than a buzz word.

Hmmm perhaps, it would appear that way, however these games don't seem to be streaming out of that part of the world, so I don't think that would be the case.

Now (going to get flamed for this) sexual differences.... that may be a stronger possibility, I mean a guy squatting with a pilon on his head and wearing nothing but a bannana hammock? Then two guys wearing nothing but bannana hammocks while one cuts flowers that were growing out of the other ones head?

I think in the review, Daemon, hit the nail right on the head.

    1) Are there any?
No idea, a check around the net may come up with something. However they are specific to the board you are using...

    2) How much bios code is reusable between completely different motherboards?
This again depends, on similar hardware, memory controllers, etc...

    3) Will we always need a bios?
Well the other option is a ROM monitor or ipl (Initial program loader), those need to be written for the board you have, which is not trivial, esp without the hardware manual (specs, etc.)

  19. Simple, don't buy em. on Phoenix Bios to Incorporate DRM · · Score: 5, Insightful

This is going to be a big bitch and complain session about liberties and what not, and I agree. However complaining never solves anything. The simple and most effective solution is to *not* buy boards with these chipsets.

Also don't think that your purchase won't make a difference.

  20. Re:It's about time on Universal Music To Cut CD Prices · · Score: 1

Lot's of people pay $20.00 for a CD. Remember I pointed out a range of prices, which included the Collector's item CD's and Double CD's.

Personally I have paid $20.00 many times for CD's (imports included), simply because the quality I'm getting is going to sound (in my mind) 100% better than a compressed version.

I personally don't care about pirating CD's so if you want to do that, go right ahead, since you don't want to pay $20.00 for it, or you can always just wait around and hope the radio plays it...

  22. Re:It's about time on Universal Music To Cut CD Prices · · Score: 5, Interesting

I'm actually rather shocked that CD prices are that high in the US. In Canada CD prices range from ~$14.99 - $21.99 ($21.99 being those rare expensive collectors or double CD's). I thought that those prices were high.

I'd be *pissed* if I had to pay $26.20 ($18.98 USD) for a crummy CD.

Dropping the price to $12.98 is still ~$17.90 CAD, which is just brutal.

Now the question is, will they drop the prices in Canada as well? or have they just decided that they can afford to bring the prices down in the US to reflect the same prices in Canada and still gouge us at the register?

  24. Mod this up! on Best Videogame Endings Discussed · · Score: 1

You hit the nail right on the head. I was hoping to see some variety in there, however I we see is some list of console games that people have played and finished. Are we strickly a console based game generation? Not that I know of, so the title should really read:

    "Best Console Videogame Endings Discussed"

IMHO I think there should be some mention of one of the Ultima's. VII my fav, I could hardly wait for part 2, and the animation at that time was just breath taking. I couldn't belive the 3d effects it had.

Anyway, perhaps someone could make either a real list or a list that included Computer games and not just console games.

Actually here is an idea, perhaps the next slashdot poll should be between a handfull of games and then we get to pick which had the best ending (granted we played it).
