I am sick and tired of the RIAA/MPAA et al trying to punish law abiding users. One of my favorite rappers Jay Z, has taken a very innovative and effective approach to fighting piracy. Read about it here. I'm sure this guy won't be selling anymore bootlegs!
Funny you should say that, because one of the members of the RIAA, Disney, has already done propaganda against P2P usage. The mp3 newswire and the newsforge have articles on it. The show is called the Proud Family and the particular episode spews the propaganda is called EZ-Jackster.
Having worked for several seasons on ScrapHeap Challenge and two seasons of Junkyard Wars, which teams came up with the most interesting solution for the challenge. What are some of your favorite contraptions created for the challenge?
" If you have 'half' of autism, you're good at living within your mind/ interacting with machines and information - the classic 'geek' skills." What your referring to, 'half' autism, is actually called Asperger Syndrome or High functioning Autism. Its funny, I was diagnosed with it and I do have the classic 'geek' skills and sensabilities. However, it took me some years to learn how to interact with people. I still don't get along with folks too well, so I stick to the web. The other funny thing is that unlike most geeks and aspies, I cannot learn anything beyond basic math.
what would be funny is if RedHat actually envoked the powers of the DMCA and decided to bust you guys. For posting this. Then we would have something to take to our congressman
I cannot believe that such an untrue post got +5 mod points. Entirely misplaced quote of lyrics, because eminem never has said and probably never will say the "N" word. He has stated many times that he will not because he is white. mod these two up!
Cheap pete trying to buy a copy of outlook from Microsoft. "So, your saying that Windows XP costs $199 and I have to subscribe to it for $10 a month for updates? Thats a lot of money!! How about I give you $10 and you send me a copy of Windows XP 3.1 when it comes out?"
Another great idea instead of a "invisibility cloak", is invisibility glasses or hats. They could be regular apparel, but would emit a small, but wide enough beam of ir energy to encompass your face and blind ir cameras. It won't protect your whole body, but you would have that very cool blue dot effect thats in the court rooms, and for guys who rat on the mob.
I remeber trying this a few years ago. I read that most CCD cameras are very sensetive to ir light. We decided to try it out at the local radio shack where i used to work. I took the bar-code scanner and pointed it into the camera. The rear monitor would only display strobes of white light, and would not pick up any pictures. Lots of fun. Could potentially be used if one could somehow wide-broadcast a powerful enough ir stream/beam whatever you want to say, to toally blind cameras. At least thats what it seems he is talking about.
"Oh jesus christ, you want it to crash or something?" DO you mean you want it to crash because he is there or that you want it to crash because it may run his software. either way...
I can certainly understand where your coming from. Most people in my CS classes have never taken a solder iron to anything. Never tried out one of those radioshack pcbs or anything. I"m more of a hands on geek. I can't code worth a sh#t, but I love to get knee deep in electronics and solder. I have the busted knuckles to prove it.
Hrm, don't be so sure. If you remember, a little known system called the Sony Playstation had been chipped. The good folks over at sony modified the system 6 times and even began to modify games to detect those chips. If past experience teaches us anything, it is that there will always be people to buy the chips. X-box does however have one thing going for it over the PSX. The x-box has a hard disk which could be used in unique ways for detecting mod chips. What if the next game contained an X-box service pack that would detect if you have a chipped system and disable the hdd. Really nasty
no, most of the systems provide very good sound. These 5.1 systems are often just as good as mid-range hifi units. I own a midiland 8200 plus system and it is very high quality. It is not an "pc speaker". NO $10 juster units here. I just mentioned the Inspire 5700 because it is creatives own product. They are actually killing their own product.
Right now, it is obvious that M$ is trying to prevent hackers from opening up a "pandora's box" of sorts with the X-box. I bet ole billy could care less if the box is used to play divx movies. I bet he could care less if it used as a gateway. To him, it would be positive because that means more boxes sold. However, with a flip of the coin, with the same "security" features unlocked, the console could then run pirated games. That would be a nightmare for M$ who spent millions developing the system and are trying to get it back with games. Its a simple game of cat and mouse really. We all knew this would happen eventually
I guess with DRM, creative must not care that they are alienating a portion of their customers. For those of you who own those big fancy surround sound systems (me included), that are hooked up to the pc, most us us tend to use spdif out. The card hooks up like this and the speakers tend to only like to use this, otherwise you have to resort to regular inferior stereo cables. If I am correct, dosn't creative manufacture a surround sound system? THe Creative Inspire 5700 uses spdif right off the back of the soundblaster live and audigy series.
actually, they have. I live near Atlanta, Georgia and they recently opened a distribution center in Duluth georgia, which is around 40 miles north. DVDs now only take around 3 days from mailing out to being recieved. I can literally send off a movie monday morning and expect another wednesday morning. It is truly a wonderful service.
When you overclock it, it boils away.
and you live where? $4.95? I would move for that

Locomotives. You use the heat to drive the steam engine.
No, your both wrong. You use the heat to start a small nuclear reaction. Alqueda is going to have a field day with these.
"our CPU runs at a tenth of the room temperature"
I think you mean our CPU runs at 10^7 of room temperature.

so will it still take 9 months to compile?
