What? Okay this post is obviously a lie... The first movie had only just come out two years ago, and you still can't buy the entire trilogy. Whatever, liar.
a $50 million adaptation of Atari's best-selling 'Driver' game
What? I was fairly convinced that the game was based on the 1978 flick, The Driver. I mean come on, they're both based on a driver-for-hire, they have the same name, and they both sacrifice plot and voice acting in the name of ridiculous car chase scenes.
People need to look at the total cost of ownership. Both Xbox and PS2 now have many "classic" games coming in under $30. After buying a few games the Nintendo could easily cost more than the PS2/Xbox if these games are in the new owners collection.
Spoken like a true non-Cube owner. The Cube also has many games at $30 or less. Check their list of "Player's Choice" games for a few (there are many more). There are plenty of quality titles for the Cube at $30 or less. Personally, I bought a Cube a few months ago (as in, before the "price drop"), and I've got:
GameCube system & controller
Extra controller
Memory Card 59
2 Memory Card 251's
Mario Sunshine
NFL Blitz 20 02
Madden 2003
F-Zero GX
Animal Crossing
At your assumed prices, even after the $99 price break (which I did not get), I would have paid $420 for all of that ($250 on the games alone!). Combined, I have paid less than $300 for the whole package. GameCubes still win the TCO in my book.
Sounds like there may be something to their claims that the PSP will have the power of a PS2, after all. I would say that combining the microprocessor and graphics chip into one smaller chip is a pretty good step toward fitting the whole thing into a handheld device, yes?
Come on moderators, can't you even read two paragraphs into a comment?
Like a pack of ravid gorillas with ants stuck up their anuses, the editors of slashdot behave in a quite odd manner when it comes to censorship and poor journalism. Readers should rise up in sacred jihad against these practices; the moment draws near.
Besides, the site isn't even remotely slow. Sheesh.
SPU also runs a similar service which, while I did not design, I was in charge of upkeeping for a year and had to do some fairly major rehauling. It's designed using ASP with an exchange database (I know, I know...), but it might be worth checking out:
I might even have the source for the asp pages, if anybody wants them. The main difficulty for a project like this though, is getting the word out. The best system is useless if 80% of students don't know about it. Whoever plans to undertake something like this should make sure they have a good advertising plan laid out.
I wonder why they chose to name it "Eigenradio"? Eigen being a German word, it seems that the primary meaning is "to own." Really makes me wonder what kind of statement they are trying to make. Of course it seems obvious to me that the main point of this project (outside of the technical challenge presented) is to make some sort of statement regarding the music industry.
As a regular reader of Obscure Store, it seems I have seen one or two of these every week since Summer started. See also this story on CNN. It is indeed unfortunate that some people in this case are using this death to grind their ax against video games, but it is definitely not the sole reason that it is reported.
I'm a satisfied Vonage customer, and I have to say that I really enjoy having a "phone bill" that is completely straight forward. I'm on the $25.99/month plan, and our monthly bill contains less than $1 in taxes. LESS THAN A FREAKING DOLLAR. How cool is that?
If the government starts getting their fingers in this business that is doing just fine competitively, you can bet that I'll start to see loads of fees and taxes being added onto my bill, turning my $27.00 monthly bill into something more like $40.00. And for what benefits? None.
"If any company is capable of making a comeback, it's Nintendo. It has the money and the talent. It just needs to strategize better to ensure that its future consoles appeal to a broad audience."
I really don't understand the mindset of people when it comes to Nintendo. They have a great line of products, loyal fans, and ca$h in the bank. Even though their sales are far behind Sony in the home console market, they are still turning a decent profit on the GameCube. Why do people seem to have the obsession that Nintendo must have the #1 selling console, or that this should even be Nintendo's goal? I don't see the local flower shop strategizing over how to overtake all of their competitors and rise to the top flower distributor in the nation. Sometimes a company is content just to make a great product and turn a profit. Not that I really know if that is Nintendo's mindset, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised.
Dang. Here I was thinking that some big name committee was getting all tech-saavy and releasing their latest report via a p2p network. But it's just a report about p2p. Why can't the headlines be more clear? I would hate to have to waste my time actually reading the article, after all.
get together in an undeveloped area, far outside the limits of the nearest city, and build something like this from the ground up? Not only will we have a working example of a radically different electric power structure, but think of the implications of a whole town populated with/. readers!
like, buying me the LOTR trilogy two years ago...

640K is enough for anyone. (that one was easy)
...and also not true.
Am I the only one who sees a striking similarity between the Nintendo iQue and the Sega Dreamcast controller? Just wondering.

All of you should go out and rent this movie..
Now.
I think perhaps this would have been a better link for "fakers."
GMR gave it a 3 of 10... and thats cuz the phone part works
Heh, I think that dpad.ca says it best here.
Personally I would be suspect the second that someone touted a "beautiful timeshare right on the beach" in Ritzville.

Too bad there isn't a webcam on their server, so we could all watch it go up in smoke live.

Go Vonage.
Shameless refer-a-friend link to Vonage
The entire cotton industry would thrown on it's ear if hemp were to be massively produced and manufactured into products.
The Straight Dope says differently.

"It was very exciting when the blood samples came back positive for human DNA from four separate individuals."
It could have been 4 separate individuals... OR, it could have been 2 chimera twins. Hmmm...
My roommate bought an optical mouse that does this one year ago, at Target. Let's hear it for innovation!

Or, you can go with this guy's formula. Heh.

Umm... wait. Nevermind. Don't think of that.
From the end of the article:
"I think they're trying to scare people," Barnes said.
No... You think?!?
