Did he ever finish the series on installing linux on his computer? I would like to hear more of that, personally, than silly movie reviews. I really hope he does not get paid for this. I know I would like to get paid to see movies, but since neither I nor Jon Katz has any real education or experience with it, I don't think either of us deserves to get paid for it!
You'll note with a bit of research that there is no "law" that makes the movie industry rate movies, or makes movie theaters allow access based on age. It is instead a voluntary industry standard. Perhaps if they had not instituted this standard, their would be laws regarding who may view a particular film, based on it's charecteristics. As of this moment though, I have no knowledge of such a law
Actually , it's there to prevent posts like yours, which are the equivalant of the classic AOL "me to!"
Note: this comment here bacause I keep hearing complaints about the lameness filter. It may not work all the time, but it triggers meaybe you should consider that a hint!
I do, sometimes. It mostly depends on what I am reading. For me, reading an ebook on my palm III involves pushing the scroll button every few seconds or so. It just so happens that the amount of text shown on a palm screen is what I can process that fast. If I were to do even a small percentage of the reading I do in a given day on such a device, I would have massively musceled digits, not to mention the thing would fall apart due to mechanical strain!
Whats my point, then. Well the point is that for many people the size of display, and it's resolution, are just not there yet, on any of the devices I have examined (quite a few, at circuit city a few weeks ago). And until it is I just can't see ebooks taking off for pocket readers. On the other hand, the amount of text, etc. on a computer monitor has always seemed about right, probably because it is large enough to read comfotably. I believe that the reason for this is that the smaller the screen the higher the resolution must be for the letters to be percieved easily. This is based on the assumption that the same number of letters will be on various sized screens. And as I said before, none of the screens on pocket sized readers that I have seen yet support that, making them very uncomfortable for me to use. Perhaps when reasonably priced high resolution screens appear on the market....
If by traveling in planes, you mean flying in prop planes, helicopters, anything where you are plugging into the plane systems, etc, then what you want is a set of David Clarks. Industry standard since sometime around World War II, watch a movie or TV show. If the pilot is wearing a light green headset, they are david clarks. I occaisonaly wear mine here in the server room at work, when the noise gets to me, and the room just goes silent. The only problem is it looks a bit odd. This reminds me--does anyone out there have a good set of plans to convert military style aviation headsets to general aviation? (I know about the adaptor that is available, it costs more than these headsets do).
Note: General aviation headsets will work with standard stereo and computer equipment, and can be had at relativly low costs, and the sound that comes out is unbelievable in quality, compared to any thing else that I personally have experienced
I have to ask--What did everyone think 24 was going to be? As soon as I heard the premise, I was pretty sure that it was a limited run series(24 episodes, see how that works?). I mean what would the next one be, another day in their life? Just doesn't seem very likely. Think about who is in it--Kiefer Sutherland, a movie actor, not likely to move to TV for long. I think that the reality is that they are doing what they intended, and people are reading into it a different meaning.
Is mp1e in some way better than vcr(what I currently use)? My previous experiences with ffmpeg-based stuff have not been particullarly good, but it has been wuite a while
For everything but rewinding or pausing live TV, install vcr, avifile, and mplayer. Buy a WinTV card, and a card with TV-out, and your pretty much done. I am trying to figure out how to get TVguide info parsed right now, with the goal of doing wishlists, other Tivo functionality, etc., but that is complicated by me being to lazy to actually do it.
I don't know about that place, but most nature stores, like the Discovery store, sell that stuff--my favorite is the astronaut strawberries--freeze dried strawberries!!
It actually sounds more like ffmpeg, to me. I mean it comes down to it take an input from a source in one format, and streams it out in another format, through a series of plugins. That pretty much sums up what ffmpeg does
I just have to say--My girlfriend looks for those exact things(fighting, killing, racing) in games!
As for why many girls don't like Quake, I have always found that it is due to the psudo-motion sickness that it is more likely to cause in woman. Would you want to play a game that literally makes you want to vomit?
I have been rereading that book for the last week or so....and it seems every other story on here is straight out of there. I am begining to get a little scared.

That is what all of them focus on isn't it? Otherwise there's not much story. It would be:
They sailed to the planet on the starship, and arrived succesfully.

check your user pages--do you have it set up for +1 to comments moderated funny?
This should do it, I think. A start at least

yep that was Ice Pirates--one of my favorite bad movies. The "space herpie" loooked a little like the larval form of the alien in "Alien"

I thought that was Pauly Shore?
although in many ways, the two are interchangable
time to hit yahoo for some pillows!

Thanks, I stand corrected! All this time, my life was a lie...
actually it is "in like flint" as in this movie, from the 60's. Ask your parents about it, that's how I discovered it!
I have been rereading that book for the last week or so....and it seems every other story on here is straight out of there. I am begining to get a little scared.
Actually, the Rio One that my parents gave me for christmas works just like a usb drive--just copy the files on and of, and everything works fine

reigons 4...and 2? 42? surly this is no coincidince!
I just realized you should probably be modded up for that one. would that bring you back to a 0 posting level? better be careful!!
wow, I didn't realize it did that! do you have to get negative karma for that or what? I thought -1 was for moderation only! my mistake!
