do a bit more research--
1. it does NOT have to be vertical(watch what the shuttle does soon after launch), so the acceleration can be done over longer distance, so less G's. think rail's in hundreds of miles. Expensive, yes, but less than 100 million per launch of shuttle.
2. even if it did, you could just build it up the side of a tall mountain, and have it curve gently up, which is kinda the most likly solution anyway, as it put you higher in the air, so less air resistance, closer to orbit, that type of thing.
And if you do this, you can watch your system quickly fry itself, unless you have some method of removing heat from every component that produces heat, which will of course be producing some noise on it's own, just outside the case now. Remember that the point of most of that noise(besides hard drive and CD) is cooling. making the case hard to cool does not help, it likely hinders. No, I think the way to solve the noise problem is to move the source away. This works in all situations, as far as noise control goes. Use a vaccuum, regular air, or mineral oil, just make sure the pump is extremly quiet, or far away. maybe a case for a central cooling in the basement, or some such. Just replace that old central vaccuum with it!
do you see the little penguin on bootup? extra small 1024x768 style text? if so you have the framebuffer...otherwise mostly likely you need a recompile of the kernel. but the easiest option is to read the mplayer docs, as they do cover that very problem there. you need to properly set up your xconfig (and if you want best performance, pick up a matrox card of some sort).
I must say, I don't know what made you think Terry Gilliam was involved in with Nightmare Before Christmas, but i am afraid you were mistaken. That particular honor falls on Tim Burton, otherwise known for Planet of the Apes, Beetlejuice, etc. If you have based your opinion of Mr. Gilliam on someone elses movies, you might want to reconsider.
I meant the american version of men behaving badly, which was canceled before I actually saw more than a commercial for it. and I watch coupling every friday, when it's on BBCamerica
Whose Line is it Anyway-all the same people, but a new host.
JunkYard Wars-Same producer(Kathy Rodgers) different hosts, same action.
RobotWars--There's an American version, so don't compare it to BattleBots, but if you want to, you should know that RobotWars(UK) was originally created by an american guy, Marc Thorpe. See here. But anyway, what I have seen and heard of the UK version of RobotWars is that it is basically the exact same show as Robotica, which most people say is a pretty good version of Robot competion.
now, A few bad examples of Brit television that have been transfered to America are Cybil(Absolutly Fabulous clone), and a show called Men Behaving Badly(a British Men Behaving Badly clone)--notice that both have been canceled.
I will give you that Survivor is an example of a European show that seems to have caught on that I wish hadn't. And, oh yes, I watch too much BBCAmerica.
Check under your seat for a car style power socket, the next time you fly. I have found them there on my last several non-commuter flights. And who needs more than an hour or so of battery on a commuter flight.
Note: The flicker apparent at 60Hz on computer monitors is due to to it's lack of synch whith the 60Hz flicker of the flourescent lights in the room. Change the lights(preferably to something not so green), or change the refresh rate slightly and the problem goes away. Even going down slightly will improve it, but of course changing it up is better.
Just a note--their were several flavors of win95, and one of them performed exactly as you described(I believe it was the OEM version) Other versions give you a choice of formating the various partions, etc
Just a note, to those commenting on american's changing the spelling: I belive that aluminum is the way that the discoveror/inventor/whatever spelled the word. This would make it the correct spelling in most people's judgement.
ah, then it is as I though, another case of me talking about something that I really don't know about! what I was tying to get at was that it would be nice if their was a way to use an application hat functions similar to the way ppoe works, but with encryption added. it has everything else you would want in such software, such as authentication, ease of use, etc.
but then again I probably just don't know what I am talking about
;-}
I have no wireless network card, and no experience with PPPOE, but it does seem that it is exactly the type of thing to use to give your connection a bit of encryption. Of course that is assuming that it does some kind of decent encryption. if it doesn't, well it sounds like a 10 minute hack to solve the problem, but then again, it's not my area of expertise
you would likely get better results recording raw avi's or straight to divx, if you have the processing power. Going to mpg, and ten to divx is going to compress the picture twice, and these are lossy codecs, so of course that is not the best way o get good pic quality
Actually, Mallrats was filmed at the mall of america or some crap in MN, Clerks was filmed in Jersey, at the store that Kevin Smith was working at the time (I believe, he may not have been working there anymore when the film was made) They had to film the movie after the store closed for the night, which is why the shutters are always shut in interior shots, etc
no one posts by default at -1, so...
I suppose you could say they were pre-forgotten?
but there IS dirt--bury evereything, 'cept your antennas, of course.
This website was not around in 94 or 95. Perhaps you meant "I used to live on the web"?

+1 all moderation types, -1 foes, mark as foes those that annoy, reading at zero is same as reading at -1, unless I missed something.

you must be new, I am guessing?
go back, think about that one again
now, remember what words like ironic, or sarcastic, mean.
Thanks!
I believe that he meant $.50, as that works with a dollar a child doubling her pay.
in Mozilla:
Edit->preferences->apearance->colors-> select "use my chosen colors, ignoring..."
use this and you won't even know that they specified the colors, which also negates your other arguments, except the last which is arguable anyway.
Just trying to help
and also Space Cadet
