I work for a fairly large hosting company, and we deal with some fairly large customers...but on a daily basis I see them change their server ips to gateway ips, changing all their network interfaces to have an ip of 5 (ifconfig -a 5, if you ever want to), etc. Then they wonder why we are so hesitant to give them root access to these boxes again.
The best antecdote though, was working with a customer, who couldn't figure out why he couldn't reach his server, and was cursing a storm about it, wanting to talk to vps, etc. I can't hit the box either, and no response from the remote console, so I have the data center tech check the box, and it's powered down. I have him power the box back up, and lo and behold, connectivity restored. Customer is livid at the news that the box was down, and wants to know why. I start digging in, and notice that the user was on the box when it when down. I check his history, and sure enough, "shutdown -h now". I brought this information to him, and he hung up on me. I made sure that our trouble ticket was noted with the info, and by the next week, the customer had a new technical contact, who was much nicer.
With their partnership with SBC/ATT? Last time I checked, sbc's dsl was "sbc-yahoo dsl". Wouldn't selling a voip level product be a stab in the back of your partner? Maybe it's just me.
seriously. That's like complaining about your legs hurting after walking 200ft, because you usually just do laps from the fridge to the couch. You can avoid soreness in your thumbs the same way you avoid soreness everywhere else: stretch your muscles (try shadow thumb wrestling), repetition, and don't go till it hurts. You know when you're getting near that point, just stop there.
IANAPFE (I am not a physical fitness expert), but I do play a lot of video games, A LOT of video games, and between that and the literally hundreds of thousands of characters I type on a daily basis for work, I've learned how to deal with digit soreness.
I still go back once a year and play Legend of Zelda all the way through. Earthbound and MarioRPG get at least once every two years. I still play Mario 3 pretty often. The classics will live on...
As for modern games:
Diablo2 and d2:LOD KoL
and now, WoW
but I missed the first one. This actually reminded me of my genesis six-button controller, which was one of my favorite pads before analog got big. The only issue I had with it was the edges on the d-pad would irritate the callouses that my thumbs had formed from the nes pad (overall winner in my book). I'm hoping that when they start coming out with revolution controller add-ons (to do fighters, etc), it's similar to either the genesis pad, or the Dreamcast controller...the grip just seemed right on that.
by soaking your finger in some water, then drying it off. They key is to do it long enough that the ridges rise, but stop before you've got raisin's for finger tips. annoying, but doing it first thing in the morning should leave them like that all day.
Before anything can happen on the survival horror front, though, Nakai seems intent on developing a videogame for Revolution completely unrelated to Resident Evil. Once that's accomplished, then he can start working out how to properly take advantage of the controller's unique features in Capcom's zombiefied universe.
There's going to be a Capcom title, but totally unrelated to Resident Evil. No where in the article does it say there will be a Resident Evil unique to the revolution.
BAD sequels turn off gamers. By bad I mean sequels that offer nothing new in the terms of gameplay, just a shinier appearance. Pretty much any EA sports game in the past 3 years have offered very little in innovative gameplay. However, sequels that offer new gameplay, storylines, etc (Zelda, Metroid, Final Fantasy), alway bring me back. There's always a draw to games that are obviously something new in a series of games, rather than just a re-hash of the same game, with a minor addition (madden, etc).
Does Sony plan to employ this technology in the PlayStation 3? Not likely. If so, PS3 owners would not be able to rent (used) games or borrow their friends' games--or even purchase used games! Sure, the technology could be used for Blu-Ray movies, but for games? It just won't go down like that... right?
I think they're looking at this as more of an anti-piracy menu, but I don't think they'll actually use it. They realize the market they'll lose...hopefully...
Be careful. I ran in to an issue with web calendar 1.0.1, where someone used a php vulnerability built in to the reminder function to upload and execute remote software.
Atlus is picking up where square/enix/borg have dropped the ball, at least in my opinion. Disgaea was one of the most fun rpgs I've played in quite a while, and Riviera was a fresh look at single-pathed rpgs. I can't wait to see Disgaea's sequel next year.
nope, those are strictly created by roms hackers, as just another means to spread the pr0n. I've got a *complete* (as of 2 years ago) collection of SNES roms, and those types, along with every other hacked rom, are included.
to have the best easter eggs ever...Imagine...you're going through a level, see a glimmer off in a dark corner, go pick it up, and a hidden video clip plays, featuring sean connery in celebrity jeopardy!
but seriously, I hope the game features a good portion of connery, voice-wise, etc...The man is one of my all time favorite actors, and needs to be preserved, before he finally dies, at 110, I hope..
I've now checked 5 different blockbusters, and 2 hollywood videos, and not only can I not find this game (it's just 6mos old, right?), but they have no clue what I'm talking about. Hopefully 2 gets some more attention from the "outside" (not gamers) world.

if slashdot links itself in a story, then does it cause a /. effect on itself? seems like an endless loop of pain.
uhh....apparently you've lost some math skills in your old age along with picking up depression.
? is this what you're looking for tim?

This, for the laptop/ipod/phone/pda anyway. It can power all three off of one plug, and works in cars/planes. Very handy.

for Lobo from DC to get a movie, or at least a cameo...I doubt it will happen, but it's got to be better than Ant-Man
otherwise known as KOL (Kingdom of Loathing)
Savvis does a good portion of this. They even will outsource an entire data center to a customer (or 2, if you're microsoft).
Check them out
That /. would post a story on the awesomeness of water shortly after ThinkGeek begins selling a Water Powered Clock and a Mini Water Dispenser
Stupid planted articles...I'll buy what I want!...oooh...clock...
