    Most every Japanese person I know either uses a standard English keyboard and converts from Romaji -> Kana -> Kanji. Otherwise they use kana keyboard and skip the romaji step.

    It would be sort of crazy to have a keyboard with kanji on it. What would you do, have a key for each basic radical

    Nope, I've actually used XPde. I'm not sure what the registry editor really does as I didn't use it for very long.

    China licensed VP5 and VP6 for use in the EVD standard, at least according to On2 themselves. However, Ogg Theora is based on VP3 but is not perfectly compatible.

    That's surprising. I have a PNY GeForce4, which I believe most people consider one of the more bottom-rung companies and have had no problems with my fan whatsoever. Perhaps you have something blocking an intake or outtake fan?

    Those aren't really conjugations.

    Verb-stem + begin = begin to verb
    If I don't verb, I won't become = I have to verb

    Each of those compounds contains several conjugations.

    GTK includes stock icons, too. If an application uses another icon they really have to go out of their way to do it, so the only reasonable explanation is that they just don't know stock icons exist.

    Let's think about this carefully, shall we? If google starts removing sites left and right then Google's effectiveness as a search engine decreases in proportion. Suddenly, there is now a market for a search engine that doesn't censor like Google does. Every entrepreneur in the world would want to create the Search Engine That Beat Google(tm).

    I read the KOffice Developers' Meeting page and it says that they'll be switching to OpenOffice.org's file format for all major applications. As someone who occasionaly uses both OpenOffice.org and KOffice this is great news, and will also provide an easy way to translate between current KOffice formats and OpenOffice.org. Maybe we have on our hands a new, truly cross-platform file format.

    Perhaps it is just a penchant for mathematics? It seems like an ugly amalgamation between that and prose, though. If you're going to write a scientific paper you should choose one or the other since the two don't mix well.

    Why should I join the Mandrake club? It provides nothing I want and would amount to nothing but a donation for me. If you want people to donate to Mandrake, shut up about this "stealing" nonsense and say, "Please give money to Mandrake." And I mean "give" in the strictest sense.

    I refuse to pay for goods or services that aren't worth their cost.

    If he's ready by October 15th he should wait to release it then. That's doing to be a date of massive sucktitude. SCO raises their linux "prices" and Microsoft drops support for older MSN protocols and bans uncertified third-party clients. Also, it's my birthday and I want a good birthday present.

    Here is an article about why base-e is the most "efficient" continuous base, and thus base-3 becomes the most "efficient" integer base. It also explains a bit (har har) about ternary logic.

    As a business I have to assume they know what their customers want. As a developer I know this is exactly what QT needs. Everyone talks about how great QT is compared to Gtk+, but it does have a lot of brandead things. Some easier-to-spot examples are things like variables that should be const but aren't and no way to tell a UI element from a non-UI element. The latter is being addressed and I can only thank them for that.

    Are they volunteers, or does Trolltech pay them? After all, they do sell licenses for commercial use.
