Well, perhaps because there are some problems with java compiled with GCC 2.95 running on a GCC 3.2 system. On my box, the mozilla plugin doesn't work, for example.
So lived the clansmen in cheer and revel
a winsome life, till one began to fashion evils, that field of hell. Grendel this monster grim was called, march-riever mighty, in moorland living, in fen and fastness; fief of the giants the hapless wight a while had kept since the Creator his exile doomed. On kin of Cain was the killing avenged by sovran God for slaughtered Abel. Ill fared his feud, and far was he driven, for the slaughter's sake, from sight of men. Of Cain awoke all that woful breed, Etins and elves and evil-spirits, as well as the giants that warred with God weary while: but their wage was paid them!
It's in the first "book" of Beowulf, around line 110-115.
A completely homogeneous software environment is a bad thing. Just think of what would happen if every machine were vulnerable to a crippling virus/worm.
I think he means actual offline messages, not just a buddy pounce. If you send someone a message while they're offline, they'll receive it as soon as they sign on whether you are signed on also or not.
Perhaps you haven't been paying attention to this whole issue for very long, but that's exactly what "Free Software" doesn't mean. This is why the distinction between free-as-in-beer (gratis) and free-as-in-speech (libre) is made. When one talks about Free Software the latter is implied -- the first is just plain old freeware.
A shame, then. The last third of Xenocide and the entirety of the last book are nonsense. Hell, the whole thing is resolved deus ex machina. The first two books were high quality stuff, though.
Well, I was directed to Slashdot.org to see a news article about XBMP in which it is compared to MCE.
Quote
"If you can't afford the new Windows XP Media Center edition, why not grab yourself a modded XBOX, and check out the XBOX Media Player 2.0. The official site has some screen shots and previews. I am sure Gates will be real upset about this one. Somehow $300 for an x-box setup is cheaper than the $2000 XP boxes."
Please, people, don't give into that, XBMP 2.0 only has the MCE look, it can't record dvds, it can't record TV shows, it can't display TV on your Xbox...
It only is a Media Player for the Xbox.
As usual, making this out to be something it isn't. Anything to get a free jab at MS!
Wait, if the browser never makes the call to window.open(), why would it use up your bandwidth to block pop-ups?

I hope you realize OpenGL is used for a lot more than just games. Even if there weren't good games for linux (which there are), there would still be a need for an OpenGL implementation.
Can I piss and moan about you pissing and moaning?
Seriously, if you want a faster GUI, *don't use* things like KDE or Gnome. There are tons of resource-light window managers out there, all of which work just fine. I ran WindowMaker on my 486 without too much pain.
Also, the framebuffer is slower, so that seems like a non sequitor.
What's the command to eject it, now? Oh, yeah, eject. Most distros come with automout support, too, so you don't have to manually mount your removable media.
And while I'll agree that theres less of a "I don't have to worry about it" factor, *nix can be far more automated than Windows.
I guess it's just that some people are optimistic enough that they believe if linux wins on the technical front by huge margins, it can lose on the PR front. If what you say happens, anyhow.
How can anyone who claims to be a Dr Pepper fan spell it "Dr. Pepper?" This is a sad day.
Maybe they just think Opera is a better browser than IE? Opera does, after all, run primarily on Windows...
Look here.
Well, it's not really new. People have been using those, especially the second, forever. "Huh, not going to deny it?! So then you admit to it!"
Of course, when you deny it, you're just called a liar.

And by when, of course, I mean then.
Right, but when it doesn't rhyme.
Cadbury Schweppes is probably the number 3 cola maker. They make Dr Pepper, 7-Up, Squirt, Canada Dry, and A&W Root Beer.
Uh, me? Cable was just offered here for the first time here earlier this year.
Or webpage designers could get their act together and start using the LINK tag. Then none of that voodoo is necessary to see which page is "next".

Back up your ~/.mozilla directory, and then delete it. I think this might solve your problem.
No. If you disable javascript then these methods for detection don't work.
It's an easy way around them.
Sure, but likewise, your viewers have the right to configure their browser however they want.
It's a battle for the ages!
The best way to beat an enemy is to learn from them. I can see you haven't done that with MS.
