Um.. I'm not sure Love meant to imply that he knew about this whole sh-bang when he was still there. 'Issues' is a pretty vague term and I think it would be an uncareful assumption to interpret his statements as such.
You said that Nintendo doesn't care about its games anymore. That's attacking Nintendo's image of making it a high priority to create good games.
As for your second point, no they didn't. If they did, you would not know of the names Retro Studios or Silicon Knights.
...and you obviously don't know what a '2nd party' developer is, which Retro and SK are for nintendo. Nintendo owns a good chunk of those companies, just like they owned a good chunk of Rare before they made mint selling them. Nintendo works closely with all of their 2nd party developers, which is important. They aren't just going to give some of their most prized franchises away to the whim of some disconnected company.
I've met someone who works at Retro. And yes, they had regular mandatory meetings with the nintendo guys.
You're allowed to have your opinions, I'm just trying to set you straight here.
... and as for the Pokemon trading cards I don't even know if Nintendo handles that, it may likely be a card company like Wizards or somesuch that produces and sells the cards on behalf of Nintendo.
Wizards of the coast used to distribute the pokemon stuff, then nintendo setup The Pokemon Company to handle everything pokemon and Wizards threw a hissy and sued them, claiming "patent rights to the concept of a collectible card game" - jeez..

Took the words out of my mouth! It wasn't exactly possible to consistantly use the hop for defense. You could succeed once in a blue moon, but dodging and power sliding were much more effective. So the removal of the hop, in my opinion, is no big deal.
The item dragging, on the other hand, was pretty useful, but trading that off, for the 2 person kart was worth it in my opinion.
ah..hehe......sorry man, didn't mean that to sound like a diss, it's just that I never heard the arguement of 'taking notes' when trying to describe how fun something is.
different strokes(notes) for different folks!
BTW - I dig Final Fantasy - although I havn't played any of the 3D ones.
It might also have something to do with the games having chinese dialogue and, maybe eventually, cultural relivancy(Chinese-centric games). If they can make it cheap enough and tap into the chinese culture - that spells success to me.
There have been no mainstream console games made and marketed specifically for China. I think this is a test by nintendo more than anything - to see if there's a very large asian gold mine that has yet to be found.
Being cheap enough to avoid piracy is important, though, hence the old hardware. If they sell 1 game to half the teenagers in China for $1 each - thats still a whole lotta dollars.
The final few missions in Rogue Squadron I (for N64 and PC) were based on events from the post-trilogy books.
PTFG (play the f'kin games) before you rag on them.
Personally, I'd rather fly missions from the timeframe in original trilogy, rather than from a story some hack-tastic-fanboy-author wrote, but that just me.
This is a very interesting theory and it seems to have merit, but as of now, the hardware makers have quite a bit of power and Sony is not about to give up its trump card of a playstation.
Which leads me to think that it may be a long time before we see any standardization of the hardware, unless something threatens that power, such as a downturn in the gaming market in general.
That certainly sucks for you, but that doesn't mean that it's a crappy innovation.
Most of my friends happen to have GBAs and lots of them have 'cubes too. I absolutely can't wait for FFCC, Double Dash, and WarioWare GC as I think it'll be great way to spend a night kicking back, drinking some beers and playing some kick -ass games in an etirely new and innovative way.
I'd pick LAN/GBA connectivity over any brainless, endless, socially devoid online game thats out there right now. (No, I don't think its fun to be a virtual seemstress or tell my sims guy when to go poo)
I think its funny that Nintendo has a reputation for appealing to a niche market, when actually they try to market their games and hardware toward a more general audience (kids and adults included).
Sony (with MS trying to steal their cake), it seems, markets towards a more specific group of people, that being the male teenager. It's just that this specific group BUYS GAMES LIKE MAD, and makes up the biggest percentage of gamers.
You're right, I dont know why this is in the news.
Gamecube production has been halted since January. Console making routinely stop and start production in order to not have too much overstocked in inventory at any one time. They were just making them so fast, that they halted to let the sales numbers catch up.
Hulk may look a little CG in the quick scenes you see him in, but I thought the same thing about spiderman when those trailers came out. I was like 'aw..he looks soo CG!, bah!'...and Spidey turned out great. I'm willing to give the big green guy a chance.
If Hulk may have looked like CG character in that trailer, then he definitely looked like a super pissed off CG character!
I think you missed the point here. Saying that punk "degraded" music and that it takes no talent, is a very shallow way to look at music and at art in general.
It not about the medium, its about the MESSAGE.
That's art. Self expression. You don't have to like it, just don't go around saying crap like "It's not good cuz they don't have Lydian modes or sweep picking." WTF? Who the hell cares about Lydian modes.
The Sex Pistols message was very much boosted by their use of their instruments; it worked. So you can have you Steve Vai 12-minute epic jackoff solos. I'm not buying.

um...in case you didn't notice I WAS trying to get the conversation back on topic.
We're talking about MK:DD, NOT your whiney-ass critiques on nintendo's image.
BTW - if you think nintendo had nothing to do with Metroid or ED's development, you're on crack.
You're looney tunes, my man.
You're pulling some kind of weird theory out your ass, but you are not actually saying anything. Facts? What facts?
It seems like you're throwing a fit, cuz nintendo games aren't marketed directly to you. (They market toward a child-friendly GENERAL audience)
If you don't like MK:DD, then say so, but lets keep this about the GAMES and not some lame consipracy theory.

hahahhaha
whew...thats was a good one.
I saw the zelda gamecube bundle at Fry's in Austin last night.

Funny how that works...
Conker and Banjo (both Rare mascots) first appeared in Diddy Kong Racing, actually.

...As is Crash Bandicoot Racing. Not sure when that'll be out though.

" I could definitely use a new injection of Valve fluid."
hehe...what the hell is valve fluid??
Fluid exchange is where I draw the line when it comes to games. ew.

This was a PR error by SGI.
The vote has NOT been completed yet.
>>However I wonder if ATI will be willing to support a standard which NVidia controls
That never stopped IBM from using and developing Java!
I had the exact same symptoms, but it occured after eating a amusement park hotdog and drinking the water in the "It's a Small World Afterall" ride.
And with you symptoms, by any chance did you also see waves of muscial color or a rather talkative water fountain?
Damn these rollercoasters. It was them all along.
