Ah yes... You are correct. However, there is a new thing called Xparts. This is basically works just like a Kpart, but is actually a proxy which can communicate with objects written in other languages. It's talked about in the article.
In fact, they mention that a "vi" Xpart is under development. So you could embed vi in kmail and write all your email in vi.
Dammit man, you let her get away with potpourri in the bathroom too didn't you?!?!
It's just a matter of time before slashdot smells all flowery, and has collectible plates and Precious Moments figurines on glass shelves with doilies on the front page.
The 7500 in favor of the settlement were submitted through the DOJ website. Logs showed 7500 referrer lines that said "MS Outlook:Subject: Go here and save our asses"
Many of the submissions looked to be generated by scripts.
Mandrake finally figured out how to put linux on the Desktop of just about every home machine in the world. They have created a new tool called MasturDrake.
Someone stole my credit card number awhile back and decided to purchase 3 plane tickets with it. Luckily the airline called me right away and asked if it was OK since the people went to the counter with the card number WRITTEN DOWN on paper.
The airline was nice enough to give me their names though, and I used several sites to get their phone numbers, addresses, aerial photos of their houses, and 2 of their actual photos. I printed all of the info out and I'm planning on sending it to them with a note that says they better watch who they fuck with. I should probably make a nice death scene with photoshop and their pictures in it also.
Or, I could just call my friend who works on a horse ranch, and have him get me a head from a dead horse, and I could send it to them.:)
I have a Soyo Dragon Plus with an XP 1700+. When I don't run X, my system works fine. However, under X, I get random lockups of the entire system. I've tried the mem=nopentium, and while it doesn't crash as often, it still crashes. I've also tried the kernel AGPGART code, and tried using on the AGP stuff included with Nvidia's kernel driver, but I still get the same crashes.
This is actually getting quite annoying. When I was running kernel 2.4.8, it only locked up once every couple of days, but using 2.4.13 or 2.4.17, I get lockups almost every time I'm using X. My system is basically unusable right now, which really sucks. I hope they find a solution soon because I don't really like having to drag a windows laptop home with me every night.
Some bozo bought the rights to produce parts for the Williams/Bally machines, the problem is, he's been sitting on them for over a year now and not producing a damn thing. The only thing he does is go after people making spare parts and suing them because he holds the rights. I forgot the guy's name now. But it's really annoying.
The cost of parts has skyrocketed. A ramp which cost $45 a year ago is going for $300 now. The Powerball (ceramic instead of steel) for TZ is going for over $100.
If you have problems with Qwest, call your state Public Utilities Commission. I've done it several times, and every time I've gotten what I wanted. Qwest is the PUC's bitch, and they know it. The PUC can imposed huge fines on them for failing to meet customers requests, and Qwest just usually pays the fines because it would cost more to go to court over each one. The only organization that keeps Qwest in check is the PUC.
I use Mandrake on my desktop machines, but while it's full featured, there are some options I wish the default kernel came with, and some things I don't need that make the system bloated. By compiling everything from source, I can choose what options I want on every package. Plus, I can compile with Athlon optimizations, something MDK doesn't have.
The drives contain more than 17,000 files. Though all of them are related to al-Qa'ida in some way, many are humdrum and dull. Others are not. The interesting files tend to be protected by sophisticated passwords or are encrypted, and the Journal is still working to decode them.
Good thing our country is being saved by the WSJ. I wouldn't want those journalist clowns over at the FBI performing any kind of evidence gathering.
Once someone releases one that will play my Vorbis files, I'll buy one. I re-encoded my whole collection into Vorbis, and now I'm much happier (re-encoded from the CD, not from mp3's).
Holy crap, just about every response I've seen is in favor of MS, not linux for this. Did someone at MS email the whole company like with that ZDNet poll that they rigged?
Recent versions of Mandrake are nearly as easy to use as windows, and gets better with every release. If mandrake made a dumbed down version of their distro with the same features of windows ME, I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem. Plus, if you've used OSX lately, you'd realize how much more advanced it is than windows. Easier to use too, but still has lots of power under the hood.
Seriously, I can't imagine that Belgium will want to tack on $300 for an OS on each machine, and another $450 for an office suite. That's insane.
crayon is the french word for pen. I thought normal words were not able to be trademarked. Even though it is in another language, it's still a normal word.
Even though the Smoothwall developers argue that shadow passwords are not required, I think they are. I have a box running right here with it. Apache runs as the user "nobody", and therefore can read/etc/passwd. If shadow passwords were enabled, reading/etc/passwd would not matter.
By default, smoothwall does not allow access to the web interface from the outside, but, very frequently, people open that up to the world so they can get at it from anywhere (which is very easy to do through their menuing system). The box does not ask for a password until you actually get into the configuration screens, but cgi's that give you information are not protected by.htaccess files.
I wanted to install it on a box that only had SCSI on it awhile back, but they ripped support out of the free version for SCSI. So I joined the irc channel and asked about it. They told me to wait until the commercial version was out and to buy that if I wanted scsi support. So I grabbed their *SDK* as they call it, and it had nothing useful in it at all. I joined back up to the irc channel to ask how to compile everything, they asked why, so I told them I was building in SCSI support so I could run it on the extra box that I had laying around. No one would talk to me after that.
I found a different machine to run it on, but the only reason I'm still running it is because I haven't had time to get something else. I used to recommend smoothwall to people, but not anymore. The developers I talked to were conceited jackass's. If they had helped me out, I probably would have even donated a few dollars to them.
That's one of the funniest things I've ever read. I know lots of people in IT in chicago, I'll make sure to send them the link. Poor Bernie's going to have to change his name to ever get an IT job again.
Drop your fucking prices!!!! I would have purchased a Mac long ago if I could get the same price/performance as I can out of x86 hardware. Seriously, do you think it's better to make gobs of money and sell few machines, or make a small amount on tons of machines? Increasing your market share by dropping your prices can only be a good thing, both for you and consumers. It's no secret that your profit margins are huge.
Everytime I think about a Mac, I just get angry that you want to rape me for one. I'll stick to x86 and linux until you drop your pricing. Until then, have fun with your 3% market share.
About a year ago they announced that they had developed a wireless, non-line of sight, 35 mile range, 45 Mbit thing. What the hell happened to that? Short of the press release, I haven't seen anything else on it.
If you're in Minnesota, you can dump Qwest for USLink. Anywhere Qwest offers service, so does USLink. I've been with them for about 4 months, and they are both cheaper, and they haven't "accidentally" messed up my bill like Qwest did every single month. And you get to keep your same phone number.
Seriously, if you have problems with Qwest, report them to your state Public Utilities Commission. I reported them about 5 different times. One of Qwest's customer service people actually suggested I cancel my service because they didn't want me as a customer anymore. After I left, they called me almost every day to get me back. I hate Qwest.
You could have prevented this by lying about your age. It's illegal for an employer to ask your age, and you can certainly lie to coworkers about it.
I know someone who did precisely this and ended up in a fairly high position which he would have not otherwise been put if it hadn't been for his lying.
I'm 26, but you can be damn sure that I will lie about my age at my next job. I ran into the same issues at my previous job also, no promotion because I was too young, told to me by my boss (that bitch). Even though I was way more qualified than the person that they eventually hired. I quit, and he got fired shortly after for screwing things up.
No, don't do that. You would be going from one lossy format to another and the quality would be terrible. I've tried it, not expecting good results, and I didn't get good results. Lots of popping and artifacts.

Looks like Kathleen is 're-decorating'.

The FBI won't touch it unless it's over $5000. I called the police, my bank, and Visa -- and none of them cared.
Seriously, if you steal credit card numbers and just buy little things, you'll probably get away with it for a long time.

As much as I hate Scheme, it worked nicely for writing mathematics programs when I went to the U of MN.

I need to order new Rubber for my Jack Bot sometime too.
We don't wanna know that you wore out the "rubber" on your "Jack Bot". That's just plain sick.

Let's see Royal Philips - #107 in the world. Seagrams (parent of Universal) - #344.
I think they've drank a few too many 3.2 wine coolers in the break room over there.

Hire people to do it all manually. May be more expensive, but paper in a locked filing cabinet can't be hacked. Automation is not always the answer.
Yeah, and when you take a cold shower, you probably turn on the hot water for 20 minutes until it's cold. Don't be silly Inefficiency-man.
