  1. This story is getting really weird. One possibility could that the thing was invented by US agencies to support the trade war with China. After all they alredy invented Sadam Hussein's WMD to support a real war.

  9. No good gravity theory on DARPA Is Researching Quantized Inertia, a Theory Many Think Is Pseudoscience (vice.com) · · Score: 1

When it comes to gravity, it is odd to call a new theory a pseudo-science, since the main theory has so many shortcomings.

As summary notes, it does not even manage to explain how galaxies can exist: according to main theory their rotation should expel the matter and dislocate them. Dark matter and dark energy, which has never been observed, is required to keep galaxies confined in the standard model

  10. It's not likely that the big powers of the web will give up control without a fight.

They will let their best weapon, which is network effect, fight and defeat it. If people want to reach their friends, they need to go through the existing giant corporations products.

  12. While the United Kingdom remains part of the European Union, it's possible that Apple could receive approval from a broader regulatory body and sidestep the MHRA's processes.

While the national process may be broken, it could still be fixed without completely removing it from the people's control. On the contrary, it is almost impossible to fix a broken EU process. In other words, you managed to use a bad UK policy to remind the brits they were right to brexit.

"No large-scale study has ever found a link between glyphosate and honey bee health issues," Bayer said in a statement

I am certain Monsanto paid for such a study, with the hope of a no-link outcome that could be used in PR campaign. And the outcome was probably bad enough that they make sure it would not be published.

  14. in Europe, the people have the upper hand on large corporations in influencing government.

Unfortunately it is not that obvious. Lobbies are strong in Brussels, and in fact I still do not understand how the GDPR made its way. Look at how hard it is to forbid glyphosate usage, for instance.

  15. The observatory closure seemed to happen only a few days after France disclosed a Russian satellite was possibly eavesdropping on a French military communications satellite.

That story makes no sense. Of course Russia spies other countries' communications, as does France, US, UK, Chine, and many others. But why would they need to get close to the satellite to do that? I doubt France beams unencrypted sensitive military data to its satellite. That would be an invitation to be spied upon.
