Give them an inch and they'll take your whole company. No one understands the word 'grateful' in the business world unless it comes before the 2 words Huge Donation..
You know it will be all over the evening news on the tree hugging west coast. Free Energy! No more Power Plants! Hug a tree! Hooray! (yeah, I live here too...)
Now this does remind me of a man whose name I forget, but he used to pull pranks on the media all the time and the media predictably fell for all of them. Anyone know who I am talking about?
Explain that to my brother , an airplane mechanic, who has had 3 surgeries to correct this problem. He has missed 24 months of work and can no longer play the guitar (his great pleasure in life). Not a disability my ass!!!! >:[
Just how much does it cost to 'play' Empire State Building or Panama Canal? It costs me more to just visit those places then to sit and let my mind waste away watching cards flip over on my monitor...;^]
Actually I can see the point of the article. The Linux crowd is def. considered snooty and unapproachable. (just a perception from real world experiences) I know while I was an undergrad and had a linux question I would usually get scoffed at or the class techie would look down his nose at me and preach. If anything I learned how to be self reliant with regards to trouble shooting, like any good tech person should be..
Did anyone actually read the entire article? I have pasted the most important paragraph below:
The policy he refers to -- posted on the company's website -- states, "KPMG is obligated to protect its reputation and trademarks and KPMG reserves the right to request removal of any link to our website."
The key word is request. They are not demanding the links be removed without the agreement signed. A homeless man can request a dollar from me. I can say 'No'. So really, what's all the hub-bub about?
KPMG is a ridiculous company. The other Big 5 firms usually snicker at them under their breath. I don't know how many times the firm I used to work for were called in to clean up a KPMG mess..
compared to the 'I Love You' virus. By now many people are wary of anything ending in.vbs that they are sent in their email. This virus ends in.scr. As we know, the dull masses have not been conditioned to fear a file ending in.scr. Plus they will never fear a screensaver. I mean, come on, how dangerous can a screensaver be? I watched this virus devestate our network and talked to a few friends with the same problems.
We've seen stuff like this on TV and in movies. Policemen, Firemen, Astonauts, Army guys, etc, all gathered round a BBQ on a sunny weekend, chugging a few cold ones and maybe talking shop, wives and girlfriends preparing salads, kids running round the garden.
I think it tends to be a more Blue-Collar crowd that would socialize together on the weekends. The white collar IT crowd would rather just go home and tweak on their personal machines, unless it's the tech support crowd. I think they just stay together and discuss Draqgonball-Z all weekend.;)

Why the hell should we issue an apology when we didn't do anything wrong? The facts, as we know them, clearly point to the chinese pilot being at fault. It is a dangerous precedent to set if we make an apology for someone else's actions. Other countries will start the same crap as China. Pull your head out of your ass, be proud to be an American, and don't let some 3rd rate country bully us into apologizing for their blatant error!
All I saw/read was about contestant interactivity from home with Digital TV. I was really looking forward to reading the article on advertising methods as described in the article. Can I get my $.25 back?
They tried to charge us to use the.GIF file format on commercial endeavours. I can see them trying to charge us per vote now too! Can't we make this an open-source project? =P
The Deluxe DVD seems to good to be true, and apparently it is. I am just wondering how easy it is to scam consumers over the internet these days. The Deluxe DVD, Playstation 2 bogus selling sites, etc. I guess if you aren't willing to be the first on the block with something new then you have a lesser chance of getting burned. I have a feeling that these 2 scams are going to open the floodgates for conmen to invade the internet at an even greater pace. Think of the money to be made! (stolen!)
