In what I call the "real world" there is currently no flash card that is capable of more than 25MBytes/sec sustained. What card have you seen that has a 50MB/sec read/write speed? How much is it?
The way I see it, we have 2 major problems in the US "car" infrastructure that requires a somewhat low MPG:
1. Everyone seems to like to "drive it like they stole it." There are some notable exceptions on my daily commute around I270 here in Columbus, OH..... but they tend to get tailgated like mad. 2. Keeping up with the Jonses means you must have the largest SUV in the subdivision. I know a guy who tows a modest boat, and he has an Excursion. Doesn't have kids; would probably even be suited fine with a V6 truck of sorts.
It also seems that peer pressure (goes with #2) keeps a lot of people from driving what would be considered a good milage car. In addition, most of the smaller gas-efficient cars that I've had the pleasure of driving seem to just fall apart on themselves quicker. Maybe it's because of that drive-it-like-I-stole-it attitude.....
To add to your comments, some manufacturers state RMS on amplifiers without stating the amount of distortion they get out of it...
You could buy a high end amplifier that gives 50W RMS/stereo channel @.007%thd... whereas you could buy a low-end 100W RMS/stereo channel @ 1%thd, and I would bet the 50W amplifier would sound "louder" or "better" on the same speakers, all other things being the same.
Of course, once you start buying low enough, it seems that Manufacturers can twist the #s to mean whatever they want....
High octane gasoline has been refined more - it is just a better product. Additional refining steps are used to increase the octane; however, these additional steps do not necessarily make the gasoline a "better" product for all engines. They just yield a different blend of hydrocarbons that burn more slowly. The additional steps also increase the price.
There are times I'll run a tank of 89 through my 99 Grand Marquis just to eliminate some of the wide-open-throttle pinging which seems to develop in warm weather. However, I will not run it constantly like that, because my wallet enjoys holding on to those Washingtons (and Franklins etc.)
I have a 1 Gig SD card, and a set of Shure e4c in-ear headphones. I have 900 meg of MP3's which is just perfect for an airplane flight. I store an additional 50 meg of files, and have 50 meg free.
You must be using the "1MB=1000000 bytes" methodology, because I only see 957MB on my formatted SD card.:)
nywhere close to the same structural itegrity (in space, atmospheric pressure is zero)
Somehow, you didn't think this all the way through.
First off, you want a good structural integrity. Humans might want to breathe on the inside of this thing, and you'd want to maintain normal atmospheric conditions, right?
Secondly, debris as small as a piece of dust moving very fast (thousands of feet per second) would make you want to have some extra structural stability. If you make it as thin as you can get away with, something might be able to puncture through your shell....
Ever since Bank One converted to chase, the online bill-payment system for them makes you enter your logon and password. But the entire page isn't marked "secure" by firefox. Want to see for yourself? Look at chase.com.
Anyways, in the upper left hand, you log into your account. I haven't figured out a way to "log in" and have firefox show me it is secure, so I am just forced to be content with the way the site is designed. Of course, the chase site shows a pretty little lock there, but that doesn't mean it is secure.... ugh.
Actually, couldn't they use something like the old 24 pin printers did? Just have that under a fairly tough membrane....
I know the 24 pin head would be a bit small; but the theory would be the same. Just make a long pad (maybe 30 characters long?) with these things poking the surface enough to act like braille....:)
What exactly could you do, though, if he didn't take his medication?
Even if he prescribed suicide for himself, we're in the same spot as if he'd hanged himself... he's dead, and he's not going to prison...
Now, of course, hanging would indicate shame and possible remorse. Not taking pills can be buried and made to look like a normal death... much different (I'm assuming) for the family involved....
I would think you'd rather have a chair that is so heavy Mr. Ballmer couldn't HIRE someone big enough to throw the thing...
I'm thinking 100lb cinderblocks replacing each of the wheels... You definitely don't want the wheels, because you don't want him to be able to roll the now 500lb+ chair at you.
Now, come on, it's been 3 years. Is it possible we've gotten better at this? And, if I recall, this was back in the day when your eyeball would get sliced by a blade (my wife had it done, and I got to watch!)
Should have thrown your GB cart into their GBA....:) Watch as black-and-white splendor even works on their "new" technology...
I get misty eyed thinking of all of the trips I took my GB on. I still can't get over Tetris, even though at one point I could practically beat B 9/5 every time I started...
Nowadays, it's a little more difficult than I remember...
Then do what is done with laptops/cellphones etc. Make different "form factors" so that batteries aren't interchangeable, and when you get a new model cell phone, the company gets to sell you a new battery.
Cause what the world needs now is a new Frank Sinatra so I can get you in bed. Cause what the world needs now is another folk singer like I need a hole in my head.
Sorry, forgot to clarify...
bold+italics = myth.
italics = fact.

Wasn't that what Riddlefox just explained to you?
last week a pedestrian in my country was killed by a _bicycle_,
So...
In Soviet Russia, bicyclists kill you?

You make a funny point (to me, anyways...)

Something tells me you don't have a GIRLfriend if you spend any amount of time exfoliating your face.
I've eaten my words before, though.

That's what will make the PS3 SHINE!
A BetaMax player.. for only $799 you can play ultra-cool-ass games on BETA!
Gotta go... no one steal my idea!
Yikes.
I had a bad baclk once. Doctor had to freeze the damn thing off.
You must be new here.

70 is hot?
Holy hell, how old are you?
That would be the infamous "glans solo", wouldn't it?

See, I knew I'd be putting my foot in my mouth :p
I would go down and get some heart medication or antibiotics and put them in my pocket and pick up a carton or four of smokes.
Did you ever wonder why you have to take heart medication?
I kid slightly. I quit smoking a year ago, and am now going to a periodontist for gum loss. Sucks just a touch; heart issues suck worse though...
Then do what is done with laptops/cellphones etc. Make different "form factors" so that batteries aren't interchangeable, and when you get a new model cell phone, the company gets to sell you a new battery.
See? They do this already!...
I had this in my head instead:
Cause what the world needs now
is a new Frank Sinatra
so I can get you in bed.
Cause what the world needs now
is another folk singer
like I need a hole in my head.
