Frets on Fire is great for what it is, but it isn't quite the same. When you screw up on Frets on Fire, the part you are supposed to be playing keeps right on playing. Assuming you have a guitar controller rigged up, you can't use the tremolo bar for anything. To some this may seem minor, but to others, that's a big part of how the game draws you in.
If you accept the standard $1 a song set by iTunes, then $2 a song doesn't seem bad at all. Considering that they lay out different finger/strum patterns for 4 difficulty levels (Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert), and that it isn't just the song, but the song broken into a few different tracks to isolate the bass/2nd guitar, and lead guitar, the product is quite a bit more than the equivalent purchasable mp3. I'm not sure what cut goes back to the labels/artists, but I'd guess it's similar to iTunes' model.
Even bringing up the total cost of all songs seems disingenuous. People seem to enjoy the ability to buy individual songs without having to buy the whole CD (with associated filler music), and this is no different. Just pick up the packs you like --You don't HAVE to buy all of them.
Unfortunately Mike Judge had a tiff with the Studio, so it didn't get the love it really needed. Still a pretty funny movie with a good vehicle for their gags, though.
Actually, they are using cutting edge technology on their console, except, as stated in some recent interviews on the official site, they are utilizing these advances for their low cooling requirements and power requirements.
Didn't the national supreme court overturn the Florida court's decision?
Despite my personal feelings, they had a valid argument to overturn it. Voting is controlled by the legislative branch, so the judiciary branch has no say as to the how, when, where, and how long's in respect to elections. Seperation of powers, and all that.
The original guitar was the sturdiest piece of construction, either. Friend's guitar has a touch and go star power activation, mine has a defective tremelo bar.
Well let's see, first we have backwards compatibility with GameCube games. Not innovative, but it's a classic Nintendo move that is welcomed by me.
Classic Nintendo move? Maybe in the handheld arena, but they've never had a console that was backwards compatible.
Next we have the online functionality. Again, XBox has got the N beat, but the Virtual Console is significantly different and possibly more expanded than the XBox Live download service (from what I understand at least.. I'm not an XBox user). That qualifies as innovative.
So you're comparing something that doesn't exist yet, to something you've never used. Yeah, that qualifies as innovative. Let me help you out here. Having a Wii version of the Opera browser, along with their control scheme appears to be somewhat innovative. Everything else appears to be the same. One handle, retro titles, and online multiplay are being pitched by all 3 systems, with one console currently in the marketplace.
Now there will be at least one Wii in my household, but judging by the leaked launch title list, I was a little disappointed. Most hands on reviews I've seen indicate the Wii controller is not as precise as everyone is hoping it to be. I'm sure they've come a LONG way from the power glove, but don't set your expectation levels so high. There looks to be a few quirky titles, but much of it looks pretty usual for a console, except controlled differently - and who knows how accurately. Let's just say, it looks like it'll be fun, but don't get out of hand with all of these unsubstantiated claims.
You can operate at 720p with the component cables. 720p is a greater actual resolution than 1080i, which fakes a higher resolution. VGA is analog as well, so if you run both at 720p, they should be about the same, minus any actual material quality difference.
Since when does Sony Playstation = Console Player?
People who played on predominantly NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Master System, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, Xbox, Xbox 360, and others would beg to differ.
You don't need to own a playstation to be a serious console gamer.
If I am going to have the same battle with the same creature at level one as I do level 5000000, where is the incentive to want to increase my levels?
To be fair, you usually aren't fighting the same creature, just a more difficult creature in its place. The only exception, is bandits. The bandits are higher level bandits, with much better gear. It's not like you encounter a level 100 mud crab... you'd encounter.
They had the ability to balance it a little better. The percentage of hitting a leveled opponent, vs. one from a range on this list, etc. Their goal was to keep the game challenging. Personally, I would have enjoyed a reduced frequency of leveled opponents, especially in the wilds, and dungeons.
I have the X360 version, and I have no crashes, nor dirty disc errors. Are you saying YOU have the X360 version, and that YOU are experiencing these problems? Or, are you repeating what someone said about someone else's mother's brother's dentist?
I've read of many people getting whole new rigs for this one! Personally, I'll be picking it up for the XBOX360, and the street date can not get here any sooner.
The saddest part is that no matter how vast our understanding of evolution becomes, there will always be those who, for religious or logically unsound reasons, or just out of plain ignorance and misplaced incredulity, will reject it, and there will be those that wish to misrepresent or out-and-out destroy science simply to prop up their too-deeply held superstitions.
Seriously. Out of sheer masochism, I started listening to AM talk radio on the commute to/from work. It is shocking. The radio personalities, and their callers are from a completely different universe.

Correction: Googol.
True, but it is a very, very, very small amount that it burns. Calorie vs calorie is a few orders of magnitude difference.
There is a movie out at this very moment that most people will not hear about, nor see, that is based on this very premise.

Sure, EB might not be getting 400k units, but E-Bay on the other hand...

Err... "was" should be "wasn't"

YMMV
"Whammy", perhaps. I've always called it the tremolo arm, or tremelo bar.
:-p
Oh yeah, you dolt
You know, it just didn't occur to me that one-handed game play would be the first thing thought of when speaking of the universal handle.
You know, I really can't come up with a response to that.

Considered by many to be the father of "modern" science fiction.

Agree 100%. Plus, there ARE alternate endings, some of which you can only get by failing certain missions.
Let me finish that sentence
you'd encounter a druegh<sp?>, or some other larger creature.
To be fair, you usually aren't fighting the same creature, just a more difficult creature in its place. The only exception, is bandits. The bandits are higher level bandits, with much better gear. It's not like you encounter a level 100 mud crab... you'd encounter.

I was thinking the same thing. Potential for some neat things, but it didn't live up to the public's lawnmower man fantasy.
I mean the movie.
No, really!

That's far too generous, Ekarderif.
There are negatives, you know.
