    I doubt this is true in the new stores...

    I work for one of Wal-Mart's biggest competitors in Canada, and when we build a new store, every square inch of floor space is covered by a camera. About the only places NOT covered are bathrooms and changerooms.

    And where was he yucking it up about how stupid 'mercans are? He was just implying how ignorant some are when it comes to realizing there is a world outside of the US borders. But that's true for many other people.

    Being able to type very fast in university (I used to get looks of disgust from those around me)made a *HUGE* difference, especially when you consider the fact I was in Computer Science. I could bang out code faster than the others, compile, go back and correct, all before other people wrote their initial program. Documentation was easy, as I could type it out 4x faster than the majority of my classmates.

    I have to agree with what an earlier poster said - typing class was one of the most usefull classes I ever took in high school. Before I took it, I used the hunt and peck method. Afterwards, I was up to 50 wpm and steadly progressed to about 105-110 now.

    Oh, and because everyone and their mom is doing it - yhw do yuo need to tpye fsat?

    Buy Doom 3 and get Knights of the Republic free, along with a poster (oooooohhhhh) and a figurine (aaaahhhh).

    Not a bad deal.

    Without fail, *every* morning I have come to work in the last five years, that stupid thing has either crashed repeatedly or hung the box outright.

    LOL, I didn't find it overly funny either, but I found the +1 Offtopic funny. Certain types of humour can be very hard to get across over a faceless/voiceless medium (sarcasm anyone).

    That's funny, I did the exact same thing about 8 years ago when I was 18. I was building my second computer ever... I installed the mounting screws and then installed EXTRA ones, as in behind the ISA slots the motherboard tended to "bend".

    I never thought, of course... metal conducts electricity. However, find the source of my problem took about 4-5 hours. No matter what I did, what I unplugged and reinstalled, I would turn the computer on, and it would continiously reboot itself.

    I was getting so frustrated. And then I realized the extra mounting screw, took it out, and voila. Hours of my life, wasted.

    Doh.

    Every time I travel to my local electronics store, I stop and stare at the new keyboard. I love all the buttons - I'm a guy, dammit - but man oh man are they built like shit with no tactile feel.

    Nothing beats my circa 1984 Model M. If they could make a new version with more of those cutsey buttons, I'd pay big bucks for one.

    Please be careful doing this and turn your volume all the way down and gradually turn it up, otherwise you can do serious damage to both your speakers, your hearing and your sanity.

Maybe other countries just didn't... *gasp*... agree with the war for oil^h^h^hfreedom. I know it's a hard thought for you to comprehend, but other countries are not American playtoys.

    So whose fault is it that the museum was looted? The world if you ask me.

    So it's the worlds fault that an American led war in Iraq resulted in looting of buildings (except of course the important ones like the Oil Ministry)? Ridiculous.

    If I were in the field and had to prioritize, I'd protect the things that will help my mission first, the things that will help the New Iraq second, and the things that the intellectuals really would like to see protected a distant third.

    Or, if you were in the field, would you prioritize and protect those interests that... well... your COUNTRY is most interested in?

    He's avoiding everything Star Wars for the very thing that happened with this story dammit. He doesn't want to see any spoilers because he already KNOWS there are spoilers in every other story, intentional or not.

    Avoiding all stories in relation to Star Wars to avoid spoilers is effective, it's simply too bad this is the necessary course of action.

    Extinction happens with or without our help. If extinction is caused by our actions (or not), it can change an ecosystem. This is not good.

    A changing ecosystem is not good? Says who? Throughtout the ages the earth has never existed in one state, but instead changes, growing hotter, colder, and even the landmasses themselves change. The ecosystem is a reflection on the current conditions present on the earth. When the earth changes, alas so does the ecosystem, and this is not a bad thing. If it were not for a changing ecosystem we would simply not exist today.
