If Robots did take half the jobs out there, humans would undoubtably make more work for themselves. If that happened, there would be all kinds of shops/companies opening up because of people being unemployed and needing to create work. I think having robots doing half our work will allow us humans to do more and to allow mankind, in general, to evolve more.
I hope IBM wins the lawsuit and they file a counter-suit and put SCO out of business. SCO needs to learn not to fuck with companies that are 10 times bigger than it.
Guess you havent seen DirectX 9's changelog. DirectX 9 has native.net support and they produced some pretty good MSDN documentation on implementing DirectX apps with C# and VB.net.
I don't have any major beef with Microsoft and yet I'm a huge proponent of Linux, but I think these kids might be shooting themselves in the foot if they go to this school.
Face it - there is a much higher demand for people who have a good understanding of Windows, than there is Linux. A lot of the technologies that windows server use are a lot more seamless on a business environment (in the sense that they can integrate with nearly any microsoft application) than Linux.
The cost of implementing windows servers is much higher, uptime usually isn't as good as linux, but yet it is just a much more practical OS in many cases - and that is just one reason why businesses use it.
I am speaking from personal experience when I say that this is probably not the best idea for someone who plans on being successful. I am currently doing PHP programming and finding new work doing PHP is almost impossible. ASPX is where it's at. That's just one example - I could come up with a number of other ones.
Ultimately this is what all you linux geeks really want - but if it happened, would you really be happy with Microsoft? I have a feeling everyone would still find reasons to bag on microsoft...
This reminds me of my old Atari 800xl. Had BasicOS - a simple (yet fairly robust for the time) basic interpreter. Had to know a thing or two to be able to do anything with it though.
I agree spam sucks, but shit happens. The world evolves. Maybe because of spam, email will become even better in the long run or a new system (protocol) will emerge, even better than email.
I don't agree with his mother, at all. She compares the games addicting powers to drugs, and that's not a valid comparison. The game is only addictive if the user let's it be addictive. It was the guys fault, completely, not sony's, but I still understand his mothers concern. It sounds as if Sony is almost completely ignoring her, which isn't right.
At home I used to use the planets of the solar system. My router was a Sun SparcStation and it's name was sun (it was the one that all the other computers/planets revolved around). Each other computer was mercury, venus, earth, mars, etc.
Now I have my computers setup with the names of transformers.. rodimus, galvatron, megatron, optimus, etc
Here at work we use greek gods.. zeus, hermes, atlas, ares, nemesis, athena, pan, etc
Although those won't be very practical if you got a server-farm of 4000+ servers:p.. just some suggestions.
The job is great, PHP programmer yay. But I don't know about the pay, the bastards haven't given me a raise in a year and they tell me to wait til June to ask again (due to poor economy), how sucky.
My windows box is more stable than my openbsd box (no joke) and maybe it's the hardware, but back when it was running linux, it never crashed once. Not to mention that OpenBSD's FS seems to be a lot slower than Ext2.
Btw, OpenBSD hasn't been hacked with its default build in over 2 years, that doesn't mean that it hasn't been hacked though. When you install it, it doesn't have ftp, telnet, or ssh activated (2.6 didn't anyways, that's what i use), which could be looked upon as lack of features, rather than security.
not to be an ass or anything, but it's a worm, not a virus ;)
According to this slashdot post it says Win2k - Win2k3 is affected. Microsoft's page says the exploit is available in NT4.
Is there going to be a chapter on SCO?
He will serve at least seven years in a federal pound me in the ass prison under the deal.
The G in SKG is David Geffen
Oh great, vampire robots.. so when the robots decide to take over, they're going to slaughter humans left and right to get their blood.

Go ahead - flame me (I know you all want to)

I've tried submitting a few stories that were way better than this (all of which have been disapproved).. who was the drunk who approved this one?
thats not necessarily true
I could be wrong, but according to this imdb page, John K isn't the writer for Ren and Stimpy - he's just Ren's voice.
GREAT, that Italian researcher should be shot!
This is sad, suicide isn't a laughing matter.

I think Alan Cox would be the best person to head the kernel development. But of course, my opinion has no effect :p

Can ipv4 and ipv6 run together? Like could I hit a ipv4 network and a ipv6 network with the same internet connection?

Well it's sad that these guys have to close down now, they really took one for the team.
Acting like microsoft = being a jack ass and intentionally making their software incompatible with other products.
