Good question. all my friends were on it so i joined, and it's so frusturating. During the day it will take 20 to 30 seconds to login and load up a page, and it really isn't that cool...
I recall hearing about a congressman who is spending 100 days in jail for killing a biker when he hit him wrecklessly with his car. What a wonderful justice system we have in the US, you can kill a man and go to jail for 100 days or you can make copies of a digital video and distribute them and spend the next 15 years in jail. It's a movie, it's not worth ruining peoples lives over.
I also like how the MPAA (and RIAA, for that matter) determines their statistics for stolen movies/songs. If you have a movie on your computer, thats money that the MPAA lost. But in reality, most likely you would never spend a penny on that movie anyway.
AIM is now airing mini-commercials in their ad-block on the GUI. It really pisses me off (I'm almost tempted to go to Yahoo or MSN) because I'll be playing a game and all of a sudden hear some audio from that damn ad.
Hah, I don't doubt for a second that they've been getting DoS'ed - they've been pissing a lot of the wrong people off. I think slashdot should post a story with nothing but a link to their page so they get slashdotted.
I personally have a lot of respect for Cisco. They don't cater specifically to Microsoft and there is no way Cisco would stoop to that level. Even if it does require proprietary software to use their virus protection, they'll produce versions for every large OS, I'm sure.
I think this may be an amazing, revolutionary technology Cisco is working on, especially if it doesn't require any proprietary software. Every backbone in the world will be using these, if that's the case - and it may rid the world of computer virus's transmitted over the internet, for good.
My company uses the messaging service to notify our users when we reboot our email server or something. Does this mean, the few users we have that use AOL (on their laptops), could have this service deactivated, thus no longer receive our corporate messages any more?
This is kinda funny. Me and a few of my friends had an ongoing joke about how people would always call their ISP 'Netscape' or 'Internet Explorer'. I'm sure some of you tech savvy people out there know what I mean, a lot of ignorant people assumed because their browser said Netscape that this must be their ISP. Seems the joke is now on us...
Peter Jacobs you suck - if you're going to threaten somebody, then go through with it. I'd like to see this law suit go through just so the DMCA can be questioned in a court of law. I'd also like to see the kid counter-sue these fucks and put them out of business.
True, I don't think counter-suing would help remove the DMCA so much (well it could..), but if I was this kid and I was being sued for an incredibly ridiculous reason I would not let it rest. That's a huge waste of his time, and time = money (and if they win, it means even MORE of his money and possibly jail time [and time = money:P]). I think every penny that SunnComm wants him to pay, he should be paid by them for.... Ok so now I'm just ranting, but that's my opinion.:P
Good point. I hope this kid can get off without getting in any trouble though, and better yet counter-sue this company and put them out of business. I think that would be the ultimate outcome, because it would receive a ton of press and possibly make the DMCA defunct.
I don't have a problem with companies creating DRM solutions, but when the companies are ran by assholes like this, who just pick on innocent kids who found out that the DRM is broken, I think they should be put out of business.
I noticed on SunnComm's web page they have a web form for sending a message to the president of the company... HAVE AT IT: http://www.sunncomm.com/asktheprez/asktheprez.asp
That's a hilarious article, but Compaq has had that article on their page for years... In fact.. didn't I see that article posted on slashdot a few years ago..?
That's awesome, someone should come up with a new sport called sillyball or something. Have the rules based off of basektball rules, just a little sillier;).
Jeez, these people are terrible. Do you think that girl actually downloaded 2000 dollars worth of cds? I mean, it's not unheard of, but usually not a 12 year old girl. RIAA now is getting 2000 dollars which probably won't go to any of the artists and from that girls quote it sounds like she has been brain washed into thinking what the RIAA says is right.
Too bad there's not more geeks in jail, so this guy can really get what's coming to him (an ass kicking [or ramming]). There's probably nobody in jail who will have any comprehension of what he did.
I don't blame Microsoft, I can totally see why they would want to do this, from a Corporate point of view. MSN Messenger 6 also has a lot of really proprietary features that would be hard to implement on third party clients (not impossible, of course).
Change to AIM if you need to. Personally, I think it's a much better chat client anyway.
I've seen this page before and I'm pretty sure that this was posted on slashdot about 6 months ago. I could be wrong, but I know I saw this a long time ago.
Not only is this page extremely old.. I think I read about it from slashdot over a year ago.

Stupid MPAA
I have to get up at 9 in the morning and work for a whole 8 hours. FIVE DAYS A WEEK! Geez.

Move back to your own country - it's obvious you have no concept of capitolism.
They did this on Jurassic park... Except on Jurassic park the creatures evolved so they could reproduce and nearly killed everybody on the island :/.
I'm scared...

SCO sucks!

It was too tempting, I just had to take a screenshot of this...

Its only available on the sprint network at the moment
According to the handspring site you can also get it for AT&T, Cingular, and T-Mobile. The black model is the only one available for Sprint.

I don't want to sound like a troll or anything, but it's 'to', not 'too'.

Big difference.. I would say 99.9% of all crashes in Windows 9x are Microsofts fault. NT,2k,Xp,2k3 are FAR more stable.
