Point is that a honda has a whole diffrent concept/design from a muscle car. PCs are PCs... the big diffrence is a few neons here or there and a fan or 2... We're not talking variable valve timing (Vtec) vs Hemi
Way back in the day (prolly 1999) there was a a browser called 10x or something like that. It was a tabbed interface for the IE engine (this was when the IE web browser first became embedable). It was pretty basic aside from that, and sorta buggy. I cant find a link to it anymore, but does anyone else remember this product?
I tend to agree with the Audiance aspect of an arcade. I spent my fair share of time at the arcade during highschool and meeting people and seeing people playing games was the major draw for me. (Bear in mind that this was 1998-2k) Over the years I noticed the arcade we hung out at loosing patronage, and eventually closing about 2 years ago, RIP W.C. Frank... When we gamed there, we had N64 and pretty decent PCs at home, but that wasn't the point. We were there for the atmosphere, not the technology. In my mind, arcades will never be "dead" because of technology.
Floppy drives identify a single or double sided 3.5" floppy by the knock-out oppisite to the write-protect "window". It might be possible to either hack the drive or CAREFULLY drill a hole in the corner of the disk to make a standard drive recognize the "double sided-ness"
See, right there was the problem. You said "Communication being illegal". Communication/information should NEVER be illegal, because knowledge never hurt anyone. People hurt people, not thoughts, ideas or concepts.
Right on. I think that that's one of the biggest problems with Ask Slashdot lately. I know I sure as heck dont care how this guy (or any other Slashdotter) runs their life, but if they have a technical problem/question, I'd most gladly offer what insight i could.
I saw plans to do that to a Firebird... 82 i believe.. Some people are WAY into that. Heres a link to a registry of conversions: http://www.knightregistries.com/
Yea, I'm sorta trying to figure out who picks these locations. Here in Lincoln, NE the meetup ended up at a bowling alley, mostly because.... well i'm not sure. I guess geeks hang out at bowling alleys? or maybe not. I woulda thought that a Barnes&Noble or something with their internal coffee shops woulda been a good pick. Or the little coffee shop down-town with free wireless internet... but alas none of the decent places in town were "good enough" for a meetup. Maybe someday they'll actually USE the suggestions from the people who live in these places.
That isnt the point. If it can record 5 seconds when "working correctly", what says it couldnt be modified to record for say, 5 months? As technologiests we should understand more than anyone that devices dont always have to operate within manufacturer specified parameters. That, my friends, is the point.
It sorta scares me that you can be convicted of "selling unauthorized hardware". I mean what happens when M$ or Intel force through a bill to make it illegal to sell anyone else's CPU or mouse? Sounds sorta like a legally enforcable monopoly to me...
Who decides what "Unauthorized Hardware" is anyhow?
IBM/Intel

SHHHH!!!! Next they'll have the power button removed from our speakers, because it's a Circumvention Device....

Actually, it was Cadillac back in the 80s...

Hey! What's Saddam's mail server doing on MY network!?
Constitution, Article 1, section 9:
"No Tax or Duty shall be laid on Articles exported from any State."

When in Rome, learn to count like a Roman:
V = 5
VI = 6
Thus, ban joVI would be a 6 piece banjo ensemble...Sheesh.. some people!
Better yet:
1. Open player with your favorite screwdriver/utility knife.
2. Remove CD. Rip, mix, burn.
3. Replace CD in player.
4. Glue lid back shut.
5. Return to Epic Records, who is none the wiser.
Does this smell like doublespeak to anyone?
The present dictates the past.
What is now always has been.
The Party is always correct.

I cant find a link right now, but IIRC that device didnt support recording to it as a cassette tape.

...buying kids old cars is actually more dangerous due to the lack of modern safety gear...
My safety device is 3.5 tons of Detroit Steel... And my seatbelt. (I know how I drive)

I'm not sure who isnt crying out against GPS-enable Cellphones, but it sure isnt me... That should scare anyone who uses a cellphone shitless.
:)
And maybe thats just me.. Theres a reason I still have my Samsung 8500

I can see the cards now:
:)
'Thanks' to the biggest geek I know...
or maybe it would be apropriate to skip the 'dead tree' greetings and go straight to E-cards
"911, what is your emergency?"... "bing, bing, bing, bing AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!"
"Sir? Sir?..."
But what if they revoke my licence to read it?
