This really screws the event DJ who uses a computer for mixing, like NI's Traktor (been playing around with it lately, really cool).
The computer can do things that only very, very expensive DJ CD players can, but I guess the RIAA would rather have the DJs just play the song, without using loops, effects, etc...
I play with the Dell 1702FP that came with my workstation, and love it. I use it for both CAD work (it's great here because lines are actually straight...) as well as games (no ghosting problems, just less eyestrain;-)
The minimal ghosting problems people complain about (I don't see them anymore on new displays) is outweighed by the lack of eyestrain. I can use the computer for much, much longer.
Theres a Half-Life GoldenEye that's really, really good. Surprised more people don't play it, really. It's _exactly_ like the N64 version, just with higher res;-)
Maybe we can use statistical techniques on the client side to help the editors avoid duplicate stories. TWB Yup, it's a dupe. There wasn't anything better to post at 2pm on a sunday, so you can just bitch about me instead;)
Yeah, but the contents of 8 A engines is the same as a couple of D engines, which is the same as an E class engine. What's your point? It's like saying that having 1 gram of the stuff is a hazard, so we'll ban more than 500mg/box. You can buy, two, though.
Compare the demands on a system between Quake/Quake 2 and Day of Defeat 3 (HL mod [for those living under a gaming rock]). Same engine, vastly different requirements.
Well, that French a/c was not up there for grins. It was an recon a/c. It was trying to get good spy shots of the Tu-144 in flight.
I'm not saying that the French wanted the Tu-144 to crash, but they weren't innocent there, either.

Yeah. Good idea. Let's make patents free, so anybody can patent thousands of things!
I (the poster you replied to) am an American. I'm just sick of people using the f'ed up American ways. I use dd/mm/yyyy, meters, kilograms, etc.
(Alright, I've just opened up a can of worms here. Let the US bashing begin)
American centric bastards...
It's 1/4...

What, like "1/4 fingernail sized"?
Can it play Ogg Vor... Oh. Never mind.
Would those be Big Indian or Little Indian programmers?
They wouldn't have so many problems with understaffing if they didn't post every story 3 different times.
Yeah, but this is Slashdot. Here, we post articles, but don't ever read them. Instead we have debates about what they probably say.
On LANs. That's the only place I can get people to play.

Obviously you haven't seen Lord of The Rings
Which means, of course, that you are not welcome here.

Really. All this time I thought that you had to use Debian for The Hurd.
You had body parts to move the stuff? I had to will the bits to move up the hill. I was lucky if I could get 1/week.
Yeah. We need to talk about your flair.
kick ass at quack
So, you must be using an ATI card.
Once again, a /.er is making the all too common mistake of confusing real life with Fight Club.

Or hardware emulation.
One could create a Franken-XBox with an emulated DVD drive, no?
Now, is that embarassing for the poster, that he made that reference, or you, because you didn't remember that part of Star Trek?
Trust me, the domain would be scary enough even if it had just the one picture.
