I hate how people use flaws on both sides of the political parties to somehow make their own party's flaws 'justified'. Everybody sucks, everybody makes mistakes, the whole two wrongs kinda deal. The fact is Davis sucks not just because he's a democrat but because he sucks. Also Bush sucks because he is a crappy president not just because he's a republican.
When the power goes out we're kinda screwed after a short period of time. You see we have a well system for water and when the power goes out there goes the pump to bring the water into the house. Not everybody is on city water.
Did you happen to notice that the article was from embedded.com? And that possibly the article was meant about embedded microprocessors for the embedded engineering crew? This article was not about the next processor you should use in your gaming machiene, it was about the processors that may show up in your car, kitchen, etc.
See to continue this analogy, your car has no value but to yourself, it does exactly what you want it to, so for you it has lots of value. But nobody wants exactly the same thing, so the manufacturers who create a new car with better/more features will be able to sell that new design. So it spurs innovation again for new and better products. Yeah I know it's got problems if you can copy it when it gets out there, but you have to sell enough cars for that to become a problem right?
I'm reading a book called Sophies World by Jostein Gaarder. It's not really what you're looking for (sci fi tech thriller dealie) but I'm really enjoying it and I know that me and a lot of my geeky friends are interested in it's subjet matter, philosophy. It's a attempt to create a fictional mystery intertwined with the history of philosophy from the anchients up till modern times. I say attempt because you really have to be interested in the philosophy part to get through the book, you won't finish it just based on the merit of the mystery aspect however it is interesting. So there's my two cents and hopefully it will give you a new look on life as you move on to college.
On the other hand for the scifi kinda thing I highly reccomend anything written by Isaac Asimov, my absolute favorite author in that genre. The foundation series is wonderful. Also check out the Hitchikers Guide series, very entertaining. Blah I'm just rambling now so go read something.
Paper holders in the style of old floppy cases sounds like a great idea (much better than my current shove it back on the spindle system) but you've got to be careful. Being the resourceful (cheap) student that I am, I took at one time to folding up a sheet of paper outa my printer around a cd for safe transport from place to place. After extended periods of time in these sleeves my cdrs began to develop little opaque spots all over the surface and eventually became unuseable. I came to realize that the paper was acidic like all non specialty type and that this was destroying the surface of my cds. So anyway this is my expierience with paper + cds. Now I could be wrong I never really checked into it all that much, and somebody correct me if I am, but I avoid using the paper I have lying around for cds, you probubly need to check out the acidic content of the paper you're gonna use. Floppy cases may not fly because you've got that protective cover on them keeping the actual media away, while on a cd there is no such protection, and the paper will be right in contact with them. So yeah I need a new system going for me too, hopefully someone here will have somewhat of an ingenious idea I can *ahem* borrow.
The main idea of a redesign of the shuttle for the new century is that the current system is horribly inefficient and wasteful. Solid fuel boosters are yesterdays news, we need liquid fueled boosters or some new tech that can be controlled and possibly shut off if need be (current ones once lit go untill they're outa fuel that's it). The current external fuel tank (the big on in the middle of the system) just burns up in the atmosphere once it detatches, that's a waste of resources. The shuttle is also much larger than it needs to be, it has yet to consistantly run anywhere near capacity. When designed nasa was anticipating a much larger corporate demand for services of the space shuttle as well as a mandate that it would be able to go retrieve satilites in orbit. That extra space taken out would save lots of money. In short we need a lean mean shuttle machine that does what it needs to for a much lower operating cost than todays shuttle.
That's not the problem of the customer, it's a problem with the ISP. If they sell accounts with gauranteed constant speed then they should provide the infrastructure to handle what they promise. Just because they don't provide what they sell doesn't mean that it's the fault of the user for using what he/she has paid for.
Nothing would change for them except no working software for the platform! You're forgetting the fundamental differences between the risc powerpc chips and x86 archetectures.

see, you're linking AIM and AOL together as if they're the same system. they are 2 separate things which are linked so that messages can come back and forth. The AOL directory only holds aol members who fill out profiles (I did not fill out a profile) and is not affiliated with AIM.

Pfft, just wait till the 42 volt batteries hit the scene, vive la revolution!

Apple radio with a mix of everything they have access to? That'd be the coolest shit ever. Too bad I used up my mod points.

Hells yeah, actresses and models come round to the lower man's arena! To hell with the cell phones, I want the chicks! Go Sony/Erickson
Go ahead and pay the fee to gardner and you can get yourself some numbers. They aren't published because you actually have to pay for that info. duh.
And it is to brag about all your geeky stuff and that you have a girl.

wow, something Bob Zany said was funny? When did this happen, I can't believe I'd miss that.
