    And I thought I was the only one that wanted to do that - and with any Windows CE based PDA device I tried to use. Talk about a real POS.

    With an iPod Touch you have to buy the OS upgrades, which I haven't bothered to do.

    Not if you know where to download the appropriate ipsw file (from Apple's own CDN servers no less!). Google is your friend here.

    Creating or helping to improve FOSS is only real way to stick it to Apple.

    Obviously you have no clue as to Apple's contribution to FOSS. Look up "WebKit" sometime. Or "Clang" or "LLVM". Much of Mac OS X, and thus iPhone OS, is based on FOSS. Look up "Darwin" sometime. Or the core code that some of the classes in various frameworks are based on.

    That's because Google is trying the spaghetti on the wall approach to product development. They come up with something half-cooked, throw it against the wall to see what sticks.

    Also don't forget that until Google got into the advertising business, they nearly went bankrupt in the early days. Since then they haven't come up with a single product that could stand on its own without being funded by the massive revenue stream from advertising.

    First one has to ask why one "rather large" organization would even entrust it's confidential documents in the first place to another rather large organization which makes its living based solely on the looking at the contents of one's emails, searches, web browsing habits and documents just to deliver advertising.

    Come back in a few weeks (months?) when Android 2.2 with Flash 10.1 is in the wild -- and note how much it really, really sucks on a mobile device. Heck, I'd even venture to wager a monetary quantity (100,000 quatloos) on the amount of Flash on mobile device suckage (100%).
