I can understand how you would feel about people bashing you on all the time. I just don't see the reason in try to justify it over a crappy sales slump. I mean, you have the next gen systems coming out soon (including yours), of course there are going to be less software sales overall. People are trying to save up for the next set of systems. Wouldn't you want them to spend money on your new system, instead of the predessesor?

As for the subscription service, I would like to see it in action, and how well it can hold up to Xbox Live. "an iTunes like distrubtion"? Sounds like like you still pay seperately for each Online game you purchase. You might see a list of games on the server, and pick two, for like $9.99 each per month. Might be more convient to acquiring the game, but it would suck if they charge for each game's monthly subscription seperately. I know they hinted at it just beinga flat monthly fee, but still...

  6. Don't put all the blame on them, MS on 360 Sales Slow, Chip Blamed For Issues · · Score: 1

Personally, I would rather wait till the NR comes out. By then, the PS3 should be out at its high price, and the Xbox 360 might actually be purchasable (not being able to find it in stores will hinder sales). The holiday season is over, and we just got through the V-Day purchase (for those of you with S.O.'s), so people in general see no reason to spend money on the 360 right now. Let them save up their money, and maybe within that timespan, Microsoft can fix those issues with they 360's before the second wave hits.

Logically, you would expect sales to start hitting a slump, especially right after the holiday season, where people are trying to fill out their income taxes, curbing their spending, and are trying to get back in the motions of everyday mundane life. It also does not help that the current titles release for the 360 are not all that great (Best ones that come to mind are Kameo and DOA4, and even both of those do not justify the price of the console and all the extra junk I would need.) Of course I would not get one now anyways cause the current list of backward compatible games does not inclube any of my currently own Xbox games, so I would need to keep both the Xbox and Xbox 360 hooked up to my TV, and I do not excatly have the space to do that right now.

So, yes, you have a sales slump. Blame the chip manufacters, but do not put all the blame on them. This was a tactic you set out from the start, and now you are reaping what you sowed.

I am working on having *nix installed on at least one of my machines, and I run a web/ftp server with PHP/Perl/MySQL backend. Yet, I am told I am not black becuase I am into those things and those things are considered non-black.

I am not sure if females are treated the same way as well, but if they are, then it is a really stupid notion to be upset over. People do what they want to do cause they enjoy it. Then, you moved over to the GC, made RE Zero, redid RE One with RE Zero's engine, and just ported 2, 3 and Code: Vericona X. I've dealt with that. Then you release RE 4, and what a great game it was. All of a sudden, I see RE 4 out for the PS2 with two extra features within the game, and wonder why you did not do this for the GC.

Now, you've gone and stated you want to *finally* try a multiplatform release, for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Note that the PS3 is not out yet, nor has Dev kits out, last I checked, AND you have yet to mention the Revolution, the which belongs to the same company you switched to first, then turned away from.

For crying out loud, pick a system and stick with it! I know you want everyone to have a chance to play it, but come on. If someone was new to the series, they would pretty much have to have a GC, PS2 and *at least* one of the newly released systems to play it. I wondering if you just gave up support of Nintendo entirely, or just not care about the continunity of your games' console releases.

To be perfectly honest, the reason ADV is raking in the dough, is that as one of the biggest anime distributers in America, they can charge an arm, a leg, and three kidneys for their product, and it will sell. You'll notice there are not a lot of anime distributers out there, so there are only a few mediums where you can get it from. While it is still cheaper to obtain it from online sources (AnimeNation and the like), it is still costly. I could buy all of Buffy, Angel, or even Hercules right now, and it would be cheaper than getting a box set of a particular anime series.

They won't come down in price, cause pretty much there is no reason for them too. While I download the occassional anime series, I still buy some of my stuff from Brick N' Mortar, or other various online sources. Hell, I am going to buy Grenadier, even though I have the fansubs to it on my computer.

Seriously, if they want to really rank in the dough, start dropping the prices to under the $20 level. At least then, it might make is justifiable to only the DVD for its extras. Keeping it at $29.99 might net you big profits in the short term, but as the years progress, there is only so much people are willing to take before they forever go the way of fansubs.

I still would not have it going into the XBox360, only cause it is still new architecture, and it might not be ready at the Xbox360 launch. Leaving it on the PS2 is for people who are not going to buy it at Xmas or for families who can't afford it right now.

PS2 games used the PS2 Memory Card

In order for a PSOne game to used the PS2 Memory card, you would probably have to rewrite the game to support, that since there is a huge library of PSOne games already, it is not cost effective for the company to do such a thing.

You could also partition off a space on said memory card and format it like a PSOne, but then you would be stuck with the PSOne's old memory slot formated system (Where savefiles took a number of slots of memory space on the PSOne memory card). I don't think we want that either. If you could adjust the amount of slots on it, then there would be no problem, and all will be right with the world.

Personally, I used my PS2 Memory card to house all of saves for the PS2 and the PSOne games. Haven't filled it up yet, and I have not deleted a save file to this day, and I do own a sizeable portion of games from both consoles.

That being said, yes, it does boil down to a popularity contest. But I do have some faith in the people who are willing to show what real games were about. We will have to remind them about the times of the SNES, NES, and maybe even the Atari days.

Mainstream marketing is what is driving a lot of the younger crowd that is buying games. That is why the FF series is flying off the shelves, but games like Zelda and SMB are being turned into EB and not being brought again.
