    Using historical legal theories to set things in perspective is all fine and dandy, but this ruling will have little or no impact on the spread of spyware. Any local or national law will easily be circumvented by the companies in question (and there is no such thing as global law). Spyware will be fought by secure systems, not by legal rulings (although moral support from the legal system is certainly welcome).

    Yes; if we have learned ANYTHING these last few years it's that the current administration is POURING money into scientific research. ESPECIALLY climate-related research. ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY into research facilities and researchers who claim the climate is changing. In fact, being a scientist working with climate change research in the US today is basically equal to being a rock star or a movie star or a Halliburton executive.

    I've found that my body modifications being a hinder in my persuit of a career in the IT business. It's surprisingly common for people to be prejudical regarding my body modifications. It's actually been suggested that I might not be able to do my job as a programmer because of my body modifcations.

    I have had surgical amputation from the neck up.
