Why can't Blizzard release a patch without causing a major disruption?
Every time there is a significant patch to WoW, their servers are a complete mess for at least the next 12 hours. If my software releases went like 3.0.2 did (which was pretty typical blizzard release), I'd be lucky to keep my job.
(Somewhere people a blizzard type/ignore kenj0418 )
Actually this would solve both problems. If they were free to change employers when they got here, then they'd be able to change jobs if they were getting less than the prevailing wage.
Its the whole fact that they have very little ability to change employers (without great difficulty anyway), that causes wages to be depressed. (That and simple supply and demand).

It beats using goats to extract the product from the customer -- which is what Stride gum does to boost their sales (according to their commercials anyway).
To make this story timely, last week someone broke into a McCain campaign office in Missouri and stole a laptop computer containing "strategic information" about the local campaign
Whoa there... I'm gonna need some pretty solid evidence if you want me to believe that the McCain campaign had strategic information.
And how did they eliminate slavery after the civil war? They amended the constitution to make it illegal and to give Congress additional power to enforce that.
There are wackos on both sides of most issues, but I think most reasonable people that would argue for more 'states rights', would just like the Federal government to just follow the Constitution. If Congress wants/needs additional power not granted by the Constitution -- there's a well-tested mechanism for the states/people giving them a little more.
I agree with the previous commentor(s) who said they'd be much better off investing this money in improving the game instead.
Reagarding sending my DNA up into space: 1) Just the sequencing part of the promo sounds pretty cool, the sending to space part just stupid marketing crap 2) Sending the data up on a hard drive - WTF? Are we really using sneaker-net to get data to and from space now? Wouldn't ya think it be more effecient to maybe 'transmit' the data into space instead of bringing a fragile, heavy object with it on it up?
Why is Diebold still getting money from the government. At this point the only work the executives of this companies should be doing for our government involves stamping out license plates at state prisons.
A more modern example of #1 is where someone is selling something (via ebay, craigslist, etc), and get a potential buyer who says thay have send a check for $3500 because its coming from their investment account and thats the smallest check they are allowed to right (or some other similar reason). They then say, just wait until the bank clears the check and then send back the difference (lets say $3000).
Scam proceeds as above - at the end victim is out their $3000 - plus whatever they were selling- plus whatever the bank does to them.
In this case the victim isn't being a weasel -- just gullible.
A friend of mine was almost scammed a couple weeks ago with this - but at least she had the sense to ask me if I thought anything was fishy here.
Does time slow down when you are in a traffic accident or other life threatening crisis
Yes, if you hit a tree while moving at 290000 km/s or if the other life threatening crisis is an approaching black hole, then yes, time does slow down. Otherwise -- no.
I bought one a few weeks ago at walmart.com -- showed up in a few days. I tried calling around to all the stores in my area for about a week first, with no luck.
The only downside is its a bundle with about $300 of games and accessories that you were probably going to buy anyway.
The kids are supposed to learn how to... become members of the society. They cannot learn that while knowing they are under a constant surveillance with no way to escape.
They can if that's the society they are being trained to be a part of -- which apparently it is.

Also don't tie them down

I feel sorry for the poor person that had to do Edison's laundry.

Would the hammer solution solve this problem?

Try wrapping a towel around your head. That way.... oh, nevermind.

In this country, we paint the hole to look like a window, then have anyone who calls it a hole walk the plank.

I can only imagine how many files the feds must have labeled "whatcouldpossiblygowrong".
Great Ideas! Now can you patent these and sue the pants of my ISP if they try any of them? Thanks!
I can explain why otherwise intelligent people might download those movies in five words:
1) Jessica
2) Alba
3) Simpson
4) Anna
5) Faris
This could probably be simplified down to one word, I leave that as an exercise for the reader.
> Hindu saints have IP addresses?
They have to. Otherwise, how would American churches be able to offshore their Saint positions to India?
> Unique Cow/Whale Hybrid Experiments
I'm not sure how unique these experiments are. That sort of thing happens all the time after my Weight Watchers meetings.
The police must be pretty harsh in your area if they are handing out tickets for going 0.03 mph (0.05 km/h) over the limit.
I have mod points today -- but unfortunately theres no way to mod-down a submitter.
Thank you.
Let us at least recognize that even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
Unless its a digital clock -- then it just sits there doing nothing at all -- sort of like Congress.

Logically, you're not capable of voting if you're dead.
Clearly you've never been to Chicago, IL.
