    - outlook embeds IE to read HTML mail;

    should I continue ?

    mozilla's mail app obviously uses Gecko (the rendering engine over wich the software is built) to render e-mail too, but at least it have an option to disable any scripting capability before rendering e-mail. It also doesn't execute binary code, it doesn't even give you the option to do so, it only opens the directory where you saved the binary and YOU have to execute the code.

    don't want to put you down, but since it's an alpha release it's not likely to have precompiled packages yet. this means downloading sources and compiling by yourself, wich is not a trivial task.

    a step-by-step isn't likely to happen too, since the parameters for compiling might change from one distro to another.

    basically:

    download sources
    expand the tar.gz files
    locate a file called README or INSTALL
    follow the instructions on them

    this probably involve solving dependencies (updating other stuff that KDE needs to run such as openGL, QT, etc.), setting up environment variables, telling the configure script where it's suposed to install the binaries, etc.

    hardware manufacturers are paranoid with their "secrets" and many of them believe if they release specs and/or code they'll be giving too much informartion to the competition.

    another thing: backward compatibility isn't a top priority IMHO, but a standard architecture for the whole system, to allow Average joe to simply download a pre-compiled binary without worrying with distro/version of distro is a good idea.

    if the people who develops Linux and who packs Linux with GNU/OS to form the distribution doesn't get a litle more flexible on these points... well... Long Live Windows, because GNU/Linux will be relegated to a niche smaller than Mac/OS on the desktop.
