    Sorry, I was speaking of the 3.9 client for Windows. I do not know if the delay is found in the other ports.

    The built-in delays for downloading multiple files in the 3.9 beta version of BitTorrent are a bit extreme. I know it is a user config setting but a default of 300 minutes between downloads? Uncool. How about a countdown timer or something so others don't spend a lot of time trying to figure out what is going on. Thought it was buggy or crashed at first. Ended up going back to version 3.4.

    Other than that.. great product! I downloaded megs of tsunami videos from http://www.waveofdestruction.org/ as they were posted.

    I'm posting from sub-dimension 11. We've mastered routing posts from your future through our present into your past but some punk named Wesley Crusher has been filtering out all transdimension/transtemporal posts to Slashdot expect those IDs with a prime factor of 457. Even those get synchronized to "now" in any dimension of origin. We've created several projects in sourceforge seeded with experimental code than can be cross compiled into subspace autotrolls. We should have a beta in your 2043. Check back then.

    If I can't install AOL on my workstation at work, what makes you think they'll allow an AOL browser? Not that I would install either of these -- that isn't the point. The point is the days of employees installing whatever they want on their workstations are numbered. The cost risk (licensing violations, virus infections, support) is just too great.

    Well said. I'd also like to point out that the original was 1971's view of story. This new one appears to be 2004's view of 1971's view of the story. While originality be damned, theme and variations are a legit effort if only the interpretations are fresh and new. I hope they suffer the consequences.

    You're absolutely right. Dictionary.com's first three usage examples for cyber are cyberpunk, cyberspace (Gibson references to be sure), and cybersex. No doubt these terms are relatable to all and well covered by the document in question.

    These are the same questions/issues we dealt with back in 1992 while working on a text-based MUDs. Level-grind, balance, compelling content, death, population size, mules, persistence, etc. It saddens and gladdens me to see the MMOGs haven't adequately addressed these issue either. The game that does will pwn you.

    Like it or not, the weak are supposed to die out. Perhaps we should do less to help animals.

    Everything dies out so I don't get your argument.

    I will also temper my argument by saying that people need to stop intruding so much on animals' natural habitats so that they can have a healthy population that can rebound from the occasional disease or natural disaster.

    Interesting thought. Does this mean the next time you get an infection you shouldn't be provided with antibiotics? Or is it just the animals we shouldn't help? If that's the case, why would one treat humans and animals differently? Are animals "lesser than" humans?
