The built-in delays for downloading multiple files in the 3.9 beta version of BitTorrent are a bit extreme. I know it is a user config setting but a default of 300 minutes between downloads? Uncool. How about a countdown timer or something so others don't spend a lot of time trying to figure out what is going on. Thought it was buggy or crashed at first. Ended up going back to version 3.4.
If you're in the position to hire personnel and are looking to staff a position... take your stack of applications and divide them in half at random. Take one stack and throw it into the trash.
I'm posting from sub-dimension 11. We've mastered routing posts from your future through our present into your past but some punk named Wesley Crusher has been filtering out all transdimension/transtemporal posts to Slashdot expect those IDs with a prime factor of 457. Even those get synchronized to "now" in any dimension of origin. We've created several projects in sourceforge seeded with experimental code than can be cross compiled into subspace autotrolls. We should have a beta in your 2043. Check back then.
If I can't install AOL on my workstation at work, what makes you think they'll allow an AOL browser? Not that I would install either of these -- that isn't the point. The point is the days of employees installing whatever they want on their workstations are numbered. The cost risk (licensing violations, virus infections, support) is just too great.
He will let you be free, but you have to suffer the consequences.
Well said. I'd also like to point out that the original was 1971's view of story. This new one appears to be 2004's view of 1971's view of the story. While originality be damned, theme and variations are a legit effort if only the interpretations are fresh and new. I hope they suffer the consequences.
but the majority of the folks pushing papers that make the real decisons for our country need relatable terms
You're absolutely right. Dictionary.com's first three usage examples for cyber are cyberpunk, cyberspace (Gibson references to be sure), and cybersex. No doubt these terms are relatable to all and well covered by the document in question.
References to computer network infrastructure as "cyber" sound very amateur to me. 1995 already happened. Could we please get an adult vocabulary and start talking about serious subjects with maturity? Thank you.
These are the same questions/issues we dealt with back in 1992 while working on a text-based MUDs. Level-grind, balance, compelling content, death, population size, mules, persistence, etc. It saddens and gladdens me to see the MMOGs haven't adequately addressed these issue either. The game that does will pwn you.
Like it or not, the weak are supposed to die out. Perhaps we should do less to help animals.
Everything dies out so I don't get your argument.
I will also temper my argument by saying that people need to stop intruding so much on animals' natural habitats so that they can have a healthy population that can rebound from the occasional disease or natural disaster.
Interesting thought. Does this mean the next time you get an infection you shouldn't be provided with antibiotics? Or is it just the animals we shouldn't help? If that's the case, why would one treat humans and animals differently? Are animals "lesser than" humans?
Maybe I should have posted AC, and not admitted to watching the show
Your followup is just as interesting as your parent post. I'm curious.. why should you be ashamed of watching a this TV show or just this show in particular?
worst.html skills.evar.
Someone please mod the parent article up.
Damn I wish I had mod point more often.
Don't sell me faster hardware... sell me more efficient software and peripherals.
Sorry, I was speaking of the 3.9 client for Windows. I do not know if the delay is found in the other ports.
Other than that.. great product! I downloaded megs of tsunami videos from http://www.waveofdestruction.org/ as they were posted.

Avoid hiring unlucky people.
Thanks for the posting. I really liked the Homeworld games and Darkspace seems like a more open-ended flavor of that.
Lots of images and video of the tsunami and aftermath at http://www.waveofdestruction.org/.

Please insert another $26,500 to continue.
We need to stop trusting these sources of FUD.
Why do you hate freedom?
... Australia didn't already have this as part of their legal system?!
Whatever happened to Redback Networks?

Perhaps this is related to the recent layoffs at AOL?
Looking at Slashdot for contemporary info is equally as fucking stupid. It was a joke. :P

Wow, you're right. The news outlets are busting with coverage. Thanks to you we heard it here first. God bless you and your children.

Please don't let HL2 suck as much as Halo2. Please please please.

This thread is useless without pictures.
