How exactly is it a mystery? It sounds like they have a diagnosis (Actinomyces) mentioned even in the article text. Is the headline supposed to be sensationalist?

This isn't strange at all, actually. The usual trend is that younger workers work longer hours in an attempt "to prove themselves" (I did it!). They'll work sixty-hour work weeks without complaint.

Yup! That's what I did: 50-60 hour weeks for peanuts right out of university. Now I don't work a minute under or over 40 and I get paid almost twice as much as I did back then. I would also argue that I am more productive now.. learning curves aren't as steep.

  11. responsibility on Bartle to MMOG Players - Newbs! · · Score: 2, Interesting
I designed areas and quests on a little known DIKU MUD called Nilgiri for about 10 years. We had a well defined advancement system and balance matrix for area difficulty/rewards so the game would not run away with inflation. We had peer reviews for area design and game flow. I saw what happened to other MUDs that lost control of development. Some of our players commented that they liked our server because we weren't out of control.

We controlled our own expansion sprinkled constructive input from players. Players did not dictate our design. Of course, we were "free" to play so nothing was owed to the players. This is perhaps the key difference - not having to catering paying customers. So, while I agree partially with Bartle, I disagree that there is nothing we can do about it... make your MMOG games free. :)

This puts my domestic partner benefits in jeopardy as well. I am disappointed.

Why not? He made America and the west his bitch while Bush was on the job. I'm sure OBL have no trouble doing it again. Plus, it's better business for right wingers to have OBL on the loose. Fear only works if you have something to be afraid of.

Regarding the tape released last week, the message was clear to me: "It doesn't matter who you elect. I am in control." It's laughable really. The mere spectre of OBL can force a run on duct tape and plastic tarps in every midwestern Home Depot.

In my own city I am shocked at the number of people who don't know anything about their local ballot items... potentially these local issues will affect their lives more than federal issues will.
