    Since he DOES have an entire department creating software to filter out spam, why doesn't he RELEASE said filters and help the rest of the world out?

    In his case, I suspect the filters are human.

    The author says there are "no means to resolve" but I beg to differ. There is clearly a means to resolve these inconsistencies in that particular article! Edit it!!

    He meant that the reader has no way to resolve the information presented to him, and he's right.

    No one is going to touch a new protocol at this stage.

    I'd agree, except for two points. First, the protocol is built on top of UDP, meaning that it can be implemented at the application layer. All you have to do is toss the code into your P2P app, and it is available to anyone with the app.

    Second, it could be coded (and looks like it may have been coded) to beat the pants off of any TCP connection sharing the channel. TCP is cooperative - it will share 'fairly' any congested channel. It will lose to a more greedy protocol.

    These guys may have a product.

    Amen to that. I want an MP3 player that syncs to this puppy, so I can listen to Car Talk during drive time.

    So, 3% of all jobs were lost in one quarter, for a 12% annual rate (Yeouch!), or 3% of the jobs that were lost were to overseas (no biggee).

    Most reporting of statistics is a waste of time. "Inflation grew by 2% last month". So what's the annual rate? 2%? 24%? Better to ignore it.

    The Message Labs data actually maps mine pretty closely. Their monthly chart shows a small increase December to January. My daily data shows a sharp drop on the 1st, then the traditional trudge for the rest of the month, with an overall small rise.

    As I mentioned, spam continues to be up overall. But, without the two hits, it would be double, instead of 30%.

    Our incoming spam rate, normally a clean, rising, exponential curve, dropped 20% the day CAN-SPAM went into effect. It happened again the day last month that it was announced that 4 had been indicted under the Act.

    Of course, spam is still up 30% over the end of last year...
