Most people who don't/haven't/won't watch anime think that 'anime' means one of two things: tentacle-porn or Pokemon. In the early to mid-80's, that's what was brought over. Mostly, because it was shocking. But, like US porn, where the best porn ever was made in the mid 70's-early 80's, that's not the case any longer. Much of the current anime has as much or more depth and story as many of the shows that are on TV today like 24, Scrubs, West Wing, or any Fox reality show.
According to court papers, McKinnon mounted an attack in February 2002 that shut down Internet access to 2,000 military computers in the Washington area for three days. He is accused of scanning networks for vulnerabilities prior to using a software program called RemotelyAnywhere to snoop on network traffic and erase files
The government couldn't come up with anything better than 'he used nmap and found our (non-|default|) password protected remote control applications'
I think something like this would make people WANT to learn a little about their computers. If you're getting hit with an extra $5-$10 a month on your ISP bill because some virus/trojan/(spy|ad|mal)ware is sending out thousands of spam emails, you're going to want to know what you need to do to clean up your computer.
This really isn't going to do anything. Spam sites get shut down all the time and spammers have other servers lined up to move to at a moments notice. They're probably back up and operating at a new site already.
It's not always bad teachers. Most of the time it's bad parents who don't/can't/won't discipline their kids. Parents need to put a belt across some of their kid's butts. All my friends and I had parents who cared about what we did after school and that we got our homework done. If we screwed up, we didn't get a 5 minute time out, we got grounded for a week and 5 licks. I guarantee that parental involvment and a little corporal punishment will do wonders for today's youth. Too bad they'll call the cops on you for spanking your kid who's acting like an ass because you won't buy him a chocolate bar.
And just as soon as the next election comes around and people fed up with the GoP vote in a bunch of Dems, they'll say it's unfair to deny someone an ID just because they're an illegal alien. It happened in CA, and with the backlash coming at the republicans there's going to be a lot of liberals elected next time around. At least then they'll be tracking everyone and not just citizens. The governement said they were protecting us from terrorists. So why do I feel like they're protecting me from my neighbor?
9.0 didn't catch spy/adware very well. However, v10(corporate edition) does an excellent job. I've visited certain non-work related webpages and it has popped up warnings about some script or activeX control or a program trying to install. It also has detected spyware during a system scan. It's nowhere near as good as spybot, adaware, and MS anti-spyware...but it blocks the worst stuff and with each definition and engine update, it's getting better.
The corporate version can be controlled with the Symantec system console. The updated virus defs can be tested on a single machine before being released to the whole company. You can start scans of individual computers or for fun, start the whole company on a full system scan at once. It has a centralized quarantine and all alerts are logged in one place, so you can see when Mr.CEO clicks on that attachment you told the whole company not to click on. It seems to take up less memory probably because it doesn't have the fancy pretty foo-foo web page graphics looking front end. It just has a functional everything where you can find it interface.
Bonjour sounds a lot like UPnP. I thought we were all told to disable the UPnP service because hackers could find our machines and do bad things to them. Why is Bonjour good and UPnP bad?
Most likely, they're having to re-write large sections of code to remove/replace things. Sun and Veritas are close and there's probably a lot of Veritas code in the Solaris kernel and OS. Sun is probably going to try to shoehorn the Linux JFS/Ext3 filesystem into the kernel. I guess they could just release it with UFS only, but who'd want to run a server on a non-journaled filesystem?
Unless the production company reserves all rights, they feel they will lose money. No lawsuits over unauthorzed translations, no lawsuits over non-commercial copying and viewing, etc....
You didn't do your research.... Apple has been awarded control of the domain iTunes.co.uk, even though it was registered before the Mac maker announced its online music service.
This would be the person that stole your identity suing you because you made him bounce a bad check.
With the DMCA around, you're a pirate if you use a GameShark to hack the game. I'm sure that there's a lawyer who would say that having 100 health or unlimited lives circumvents some kind of protection put in place to keep you from finishing the game.
Remember...Just be cause you paid for the game, doesn't mean you own it.

Why not just use what they're already going to force on us. Make the DVD linked to your national ID.
"Please insert your ID card to play"
Yes, but with this precedent, expect the sites to be shutdown just as fast as warez sites.
Not that *I* use those those types of sites, but I know of a few sites that have been up and running for quite a while.

So if the concrete road is flexible, does that mean we can go back to steel wheels like the very first automobiles?

The government has taken control of the KDE project.
Stay with Gnome!

Judging from past experience, I believe this A.L.I.C.E. is human.
Human: You are my kind of chatterbot
ALICE: We are as one.
Human: suck my balls
ALICE: I don't think I'm your type of chatterbot.

And that's why none of use would ever get hired as an domain name arbitrator.
