Personally, I would expect the world's richest man to also be the largest charitable donor. What I'd like to see is a list of biggest donors as a percentage of total wealth.
(Not to say anything against what the Gates Foundation has done, but really, what else was he going to do with it all, especially since he's said he wasn't just going to leave it to his kids?)
"I mean we're going to have one guy (Jobs) essentially controlling two companies that will between them produce the content, the distribution network, the playback codec and the playback device."
Umm, largest single stockholder != majority stockholder. Jobs won't "control" Disney unless they also make him chairman.
I was going to post this exact thing, except in my case it's more like 2 or 3 miles, not 10. (I'm talking about the intersection of Mary Ave. and Washington Ave. in Sunnyvale, and no, I don't live there.)
Umm, Trillian's not a minor character? Without knowing for sure how much of the story they cover in the film, surely she's less prominent than Arthur, Ford, Zaphod, Marvin, the Guide, and probably Slartibartfast, at least before they beef up the Arthur-Trillian romance angle. Exactly how many other characters with more than one or two lines are there?
I'm sure, like with anything else, time and money are the limiting factors here. But if they concentrate on the movies with mass appeal first, the proceeds from those DVD sales can fund further restorations, and in the meantime the technology will improve/get cheaper, making future conversions easier.
I think a bigger problem in most companies is that engineers will say something can be done when it can't. I have heard a lot of stories of engineer-managers who would intimidate their staff into agreeing to unrealistic deadlines. (i.e., "I could code that in a week, why do you say you need three weeks?")

Well, surely Google Groups has been in beta longer than that, so maybe it's just the News team that's a little overeager to ship.
Sort of like "Smart Folders"? Yeah, that would be really cool to have in Windows one day.

"Mac OSX only allows you to re-size windows at the top left corner of the window ."
That's pronounced "bottom right," or are you in Australia or something?
Dealnews has very handy "branch sites" if you're looking for specific things: Dealmac, Dealcoupon, Dealram, Dealink, and Dealcam.
"Sympathy for the 9/11 perps? About as much sympathy I have for Terry McNichols, Timothy McVeigh (why were they both "Mic"s? Odd coincidence)"
Yeah, it might have been, if it were true.

It's a little out of date, but certainly gets the point across.
Yes, but since the grasshopper has air superiority, come wintertime he can just swoop down and capture the ant's oil wells^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hfood.
Do you think the roofs of the White House and the buildings on either side of it really look like that?
Not to mention the Governator.
Even better, get hundreds of people to wear Osama masks that day. Have bail money ready, just in case.
Awww... now my Irony Meter is broken!
Wardiving?
"At least it isn't a dupe."
Yet.
How about Macrobe?

Dang, didn't enter the left-angle-bracket correctly. I retract all claims of tool-ness.
You misspelled "80>0rZ".
Now who's a tool?
In Iraq, they'd call it "extended tour of duty."
The 80 hour figure includes the time he spent waiting on the runway for clearance to take off.
