Yeah ! That game cost like what ? One million dollars (flame me, it may be five as far as I care)?

With that money they could have killed extra terrrorists ! They could have bought 1000 murderous machine guns, 1/1500th of a bloody B2 bomber, 1/20th of an Apache helicopter or 1/736th of an intercontinental nuke.

I mean, get some perspective. That's even less money they can spend killing people or they can use to fund terrorists

Successful sex entertainment sites no longer solely depend on digital media. There is a new cash cow going on, and to milk it fully, we first need to exhaust all other material. well then what's the SNR of a consumer grade 16-bit soundcard ? Is it really significant to use 50 % (16 to 24 bits) more silicon on the digital side while the problem is apparently on the analog side. Do those 4dB (100dB audigy -96 dB 16bit DAC) really matter ?

  11. SNR on The State of PC Audio · · Score: 1
IAEEE (I Am an Electrical/Electronics Engineer), but only freshly graduated.
Audigy ADVANCED HD delivers stunning audio clarity in multi-channel through 24-bit/96kHz digital-to-analog converters (DACs), producing an unprecedented 100dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).
Er, is it me or isn't that bullshit ? With a 16-bit DAC, we get a ratio of 2^16=65536:1 between the noise and the full scale signal. In dB this comes down to 20*log 65536 = SNR = 96.32 dB.

With a 24-bit DAC however, we get a ratio of 2^24=16,777,216:1 between the noise and the full scale signal. In dB this comes down to 20*log 65536 = SNR = 144.49 dB.

Isn't it suspicious in the first place to claim an SNR much lower than expected ?

The idea of an alien guy pointing a camera to a tiny litle planet 10 million lightyears away, and still managing to aim at ground (25 pc of the earth surface), on a living organism, is simply ridiculous. For me, all remaining credibility was lost when a well centered quark appeared on the screen.

Also, how could this guy be thinking in decimal system like us ? He probably thinks in base e or in base fibonacci !

More so, if we suppose that this altruistic guy sends it to earth via radio waves (oh no, I forget, he probably aims a "L.A.S.E.R" to us too !), it would have to travel for 10e6 years before reaching a LISTENING receiver. And last time I checked, SETI didn't find anything.
