If microsoft offered free upgrades to customers who hold a flawed version of their software that they refuse to fix then all of their software would be basically "buy once, and recieve free upgrades for life"
AMD has to use the naming convention they do, because Intel is making this a race marketing that more GHz means a faster processor. Intel has been engineering their procs for higher clock rate, so that they can market them better against AMD procs that are just as fast with a lower clock rate.
I usually don't respond to troll AC's, but I'll bite this time.
I have had an Asus A7V333, running linux, and it is incredibly stable. My uptime is 14 days, and that was only because I wanted to install the nVidia drivers for my GeForce4 Ti4600. I personally think the VIA chipset is just as stable as the Intel 850....
Yeah, and the "I bought the Pentium 4, because it had more of those Gigahertz things" crowd. Intel's marketing department is going to make it sound like it is a good thing.
Yeah, but jsut the fact that you are supporting R&D into adding DRM. I hope AMD doesn't do this, because DRM isn't a selling point, especially with the GEEKS (like me!) who support AMD, I purchased 2 AMDs in the past two weeks (2100+, 1800+).
Yeah I would like to see the dmesg of it when it is recognizing the processors.... CPU #1 Genuine Intel Itanium (McKinley)............CPU #64 Genuine Intel Itanium (McKinley)..
I have a patent on a "Computerized method of sex, that involves masturbation by both persons while talking about it over a computer network." I'll call it cybersex!
I always was taught that lower memory holds the interrupt vector, and when int 21h is called it took the pointer from 21h and executed the interrupt handling code that 21h pointed to?
I guess this is redundant, but Sun should start implementing ogg! I am a java developer, and I hope that Sun implements ogg in the next version of Java!
You need to name it something cool, like "Microsoft Sucks A Big One". Then ask a federal judge to force microsoft to put "Microsoft Sucks A Big One" into windows, and a possibly forcing them to create a desktop icon!
I've worked a helpdesk before, and most users would do it. But here is how you do it.
"This is bob from IS, and we just recieved an alert from your computer, and it says that it is running low on coolant, unless you want to lose your work (very important part) pour roughly 1 cup of water into the back of your computer where the fan is."
Damn straight. If you look at those charts, the AMD Athlon 2200+ (which I am going to get next week for my new system), performs just as good as most of the higher end pentium's, and cost like 200-300 less! I'm a college student, and that couple hundred can go to so much more tuition, beer, car payment, etc... Guess what the intel name isn't worth that much to me....
They are going after the windows user base, because it is the biggest! If you are going duck hunting you probably want to go to a lake with a lot of ducks.
I know a lot of windows users (non-geek) who hate windows, but feel that there is no other option, and this is just presenting another (and better) option to windows. Last time I checked windows 98 was the most used version of windows, and it is a piece of sh!t. I hope these Mac ads grab 10-15% of M$'s customers. I personally switched my parents to Linux about 3 weeks ago, because they were tired of Windows.
If you did have repeaters, how would you power them? Solar? Can you imagine if something goes wrong with repeater #7 in the middle of a huge storm. Hey Kenney, take the chopper and go fix that repeater.
Who are you using that caps your downloads? I have Verizon DSL, and download ISO images all the time, I must D/L atleast 10GB worth of stuff every month.
The RIAA is screwing themselves. I never heard of this site, but now I have. I bet this site is going to have to get a bigger server, maybe a US10000. A lot of my friends didn't use Napster, until they saw Lars Ulrich (Metallica) on prime time TV denouncing it.
Alcatel makes telecom equipment, the make some really big switches, etc. I don't think they actually make anything that you would pick up at the local Best Buy, or Circuit City. A lot of their stuff is the "de facto standard", so I don't think a quick call to Verizon (or whoever you mega-merger telco is) would prevent that company from buying their products.

Nice Troll!

It also had a kernel driver....

How exactly is this going to work? Will this be just instruction set changes to facilitate Palladium.
Or will it be able to detect streams of copyrighted data, and verify with the OS, that this is a legit use of the data?
We geeks need some technical details, maybe a whitepaper or something.....
They weren't convicted of being a monopoly, they were convicted of abusing thier position as a monopoly.
:-)
Maybe AMD will take the entire geek market, by ofering a ClawHammer Lite all of the power that you have come to love with none of the DRM.

I have a bag full of TTL 7400 chips left over from my undergraduate logic design class!
I have a patent on a "Computerized method of sex, that involves masturbation by both persons while talking about it over a computer network." I'll call it cybersex!
Winner, what round. .ogg just reached 1.0 not to long ago. I personally want a player that plays .ogg, and won't buy one unless it does!

ogg is to mp3, what png is to jpg?

Trying to find the Odoul's (Non alcoholic beer for those outside the States) of programming languages.
"What perl programmers progam in when their not programming in Perl"
Actually that would be 2,800,000,000 times/sec. You are still running at 2.8Mhz it seems... :-)

Yeah, a little X button in the tab would be extremely useful, I love tabbed browsing, but the right click is kinda annoying.
