" Interesting experiences, did you get it new or used? I've had no problems with mine." New.
"serial- mine has a USB docking station, do you have the SL-5500D the earlier Developer model?" I dont' have the "D" model. I mean hooking up something serial like an OBDII logger or something. (One of the few uses I could think of for it.) I refuse to spend $60 on any f'ing cable.
"no speaker- it has a headphone/mic combo jack" I know you can use headphones, but why? One more thing to carry.
The display is great. Maybe trying to update the rom would help with it crashing every 3 or 4 times, but still no real point for me. I have a computer in every room except the can. So something that only lasts an hour or two isn't of much use.
Even if I left it in the car or something, it's not going to do much my phone doesn't, but it will die much faster.
Though I'll admit, knowing I had an apache server in my pocket was so freaking cool... at first.
The only thing I can think of to do with it is play Doom 1 on it. Everything else is ungainly for my needs.
I've had one for years and barely have touched it. So cool, so close, but it's flaws are enough to not make it useful at all to me.
No speaker. That sucks. The one guy I found them who sold them took my money and never shipped. (Should have just build my own)
Horrendous battery life.
Want to attach something serial? Bend over for a zcable or don't type.
It would crash every couple of days requiring a reinstall of everything.
The one time I could have used it, (on a cruise with wireless), turns out the ship's internet needed some java crap to set up the ip access. I had called ahead to the company providing service to the ship to see what I'd need and they told me everything would work. Just need an 802 card.
It has a great form factor though.
Better battery life and integrated wifi and it would have been much more handy.
This is no more decieving than splicing a minute of porno into a PG-13 movie you bought.
The game is for 17+. That's people who are within 12 months of being able to do everything in the world but drink and be president. That includes fucking, sucking and drinking coffee:) (Most 17yr olds probably have done all of the above.)
If the qualm is with kids, do your friggin job and don't buy them mature stuff. If your kid can get the patch online, he can see a junkie fellating a horse. Simulated dickless sex is the least of your worries.
I'd like to see the parent that would be tilted by that scence. "Hmmm, screwing and stabbing hookers and over the top violence and murder is one thing, but simulated sex!, I'm sorry Billy, but the answer is no."
There's lots of sexual content in the game. It's not a sex scene hidden in Lemmings or something. It doesn't change the appropriateness or lack thereof at all.
This example is a little bit different, but I still feel highly relevant.
Take heart disease. One of the top killers in the US. There's a synthetic version of HDL being developed by Esperion Therapeutics Inc.
"The synthetic HDL is a copy of a mutant protein found in 40 residents of Limone sul Garda, a village in the Italian Alps. The mutation makes HDL work more efficiently, scaling up plaque removal."
Here's the kicker. While this mutant version works better, pharmaceuticals could have been making a synthetic version of regular HDL for some time, but none has as they couldn't patent it. So they could have been helping many of these people (albeit at a smaller profit margin) but didn't as the margins weren't obscene enough.
And what about the government? If the private sector doesn't want to invest their money that's one thing, but why isn't the government funding stuff like this?
I wish I could find my cache of the original story as it plain out states that most people would have benefited but there wasn't enough financial incentive until they found this patentable form. After going through a medical hell with my family, I've come to feel this way though I was still surprised to see someone actually say it.
Where's the outrage? Almost everyone has had someone close to them die of heart disease. I highly doubt this situation is unique to heart disease.
Take CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid). Seems to have a wide range of postive effects on the body. Some reasearch even shows it having anticarcinogenic effects. Last time I looked, the biggest researcher in the field was getting a pitance in research funding. Where's all the big cancer charities who collect millions and millions of dollars for research?
Though I'll agree on the point that many supplements do nothing or are worse, dangerous. Once upon a time, I worked out religously and used supplements constantly. The best time physically of my life. Many worked well (I read as much research as I could) and did help. Stopped working out for a couple years and wanted to start up again. I started taking either DHEA or Androstendione (hard to remember which, was 5 years ago).
I had taken the supplement previously without ill effects for long stretches. Though when I did, I was pushing my body to it's limits and not "starting up". Big mistake the second time around. After a few days, my hair started falling out and I was raging. I stopped taking them but it took me a month or two to get back to normal. At the time I wasn't insured so I wasn't able to get it investigated properly.
The veins in my hands are rather large. The larger veins being over 1/3" . I can easily glide them around an inch side to side. (My girl did this last week actually and I couldn't get it back in position for an hour... felt so creepy)
So I could see problems. Though I would imagine it's looking at the palm side surface more. Veins (mine anyway) don't tend to move much there.
Um, didn't Luke not really have any adventures? I thought the point was he had a boring and hard life farming and then out of nowhere, he gets taken up in a great adventure and has to save the universe?
I'll agree with you 100% that more people need to take responsibility for their actions and think before they act. In particular drunk drivers. Luckily, I've not lost anyone to this, but had some close calls. Like when my sister (and her 3 kids) were rear-ended while at a red light by a drunk driver doing 50mph. Almost got pegged quite a few times myself by some drunk yahoos.
Having said that, I don't see why such machines shouldn't stand up to scrutiny. Say you blew a.08 (drunk in MA), if the margin of error was 20%-30%, that's a fair gripe.
Do any companies actually release any type of information regarding their accuracy?
I have a sinking feeling that the card options will be more for integrating with your mp3 player/camera or pda. I'd be suprised (pleasantly so) if they let you use them to save games.
I know what you mean. I was working on this RGB light system for my car. My original had the resistors wired right to the leads and then to the wires. It was a huge pain in the ass.
Anyway, I couldn't find my safety glasses, so I used goggles instead. They kept fogging up, so I said "Screw it".
A few minutes later, the joint I was working on looked a little iffy, so I go to rework it.
Well there was some tension stored there. As soon as the solder melted, the lead flicked a tiny blob of solder right onto the lip of my bottom eyelid, right between the lashes.
Your right, they do own them. Though personally, if I can't buy something anymore, then to me, it's fair game. Seems like a pointless exercise to me. I suppose there are some brand/trademark issues that are involved.
I don't bother with emulators and what not, but would anybody be hurt if I played Robotron or Berzerk for nostalgia?
I hope so for his sake. He's definitely an "alpha nerd".
I dunno, a lot of "embarassing stuff" other people find funny, I don't because it's painful to watch. Almost like I'm doing it. Same with rage. I watch something were someone is screaming and my body gets all worked up like I was mad, but I'm not. I watch someone holding their breath underwater and my breathing just tapers off. Maybe I'm the weird one:)
It is by no means the worst of it. Though the report I saw a few weeks ago, (keep in mind, it was fox news )I could have sworn the word they used was "gave". They certainly gave that impression. The certainly didn't say it was sold back. Google isn't helping me either way right now to clarify.
$20 billion to get to Eastie 10 minutes quicker, seems like we could have got something better for the green. I agree it's an incredibly difficult project. Though I wonder how the tunnels that go under the larger buildings will fare in the long term. I also wonder about the wisdom of it in a post 9/11 world. It was seems a horrible idea to have the convention center hang over the road.
The Mass Turnpike Authority are the biggest f'cking crooks.
They shouldn't even exist. It was formed to build the Mass turnpike. The tolls were added to pay the debt of constructing it. It was stipulated by law that it would be toll free once the debts were repaid. It should have been toll free in the 1960s. They keep spending money so it will never be finished.
These are the guys trusted with god knows how many billions?
I particularly like that they paid some outrageous amount (millions and millions, 48?) for a lot for material disposal, never used it, (here's the kicker) gave it back to the previous owner for free! People should be in jail for the shit that's going on.
Well, how many here have paid Microsoft cash, and how many here have given Google cash for their services. You don't have to use Google. They're not forcing anything on anyone. It's total apples and oranges at the moment.
But your second comment, that was my first thought too. Maybe it was just cheaper and easier to get the results they wanted by stuffing.
When that one device's proximity was the only thing that ever caused that sensation, I think muscular issues would be the last place you would ever look. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Again, I didn't say it was radiation. Maybe it's bone conduction, who knows. I'm sure the are other possible explainations, but I doubt there's "hundreds". If it's only when it's transmitting and in close proximity, it can only be some function of it's operation.
The whole point is, I would be curious to find out. That's the reason I hung on to the phone instead of using it for a trade-in when I got my next phone.
" Interesting experiences, did you get it new or used? I've had no problems with mine."

I love how it was so un-PC to have a black stereotype like Mammy but the fix was to make her a an Irish stereotype.
I'm fairly certain I remember around the mid 90
s, gates saying something to that effect.
Unfortunately, not having a lot of luck googling for it.
right...

Needless to say, I learned my lesson.
Miss that show.
I don't get that. Wouldn't you observing the qbits change it?

His part was funny at first until I realized, this kid will probably never get laid, EVER.
Spock flipping them all of was pretty damn funny too.
That segment was so damn funny.
"Which one of these buttons calls your parents to pick you up?"
Except for the LOTR kid. That was just kind of sad.

Thanks. Hadn't thought of that.
I'll have to rummage around for that and give it a try. Any more scientific way?
