Came back 2 weeks ago to see what, if anything, had changed. Nothing. Oh wait, no more Rangers. What makes it worse is I even jokingly predicted this 2 years ago on the Ranger board. Christ, I shoulda quit earlier. Would have saved some money at least. Fuck SOE and the Bantha they rode in on. Seriously. I will NEVER buy another SOE OR LucasArts product after this. NEVER.

Very few of them have both the people and the technical skills. I can only think of a couple of us that have "both" skill sets, and as for myself, I think my people skills have atrophied while my tech skills have greatly improved over the last 6 years.
Given a choice, I'd rather have the people skills back. Tech skills, as much fun as it is, leaves one with a pretty small field of possible jobs. Peoples skills truly are the go anywhere do anything skills.

Clothes are a uniform expense. If your employer expects you to be in a particular type of clothing everyday, IE; suit and tie, Jeans and a polo shirt, whatever, you CAN legally deduct up to 50% of the retail of those items every year. I've done it. I've also deducted the cost of things like haircuts, and other items required by my employer when I worked in law enforcement. It's called a per diem IIRC.

I pretty much tell them flat out that yes, it is a tool. A computer is just like a hammer. It lets you do a particular job, IE get email. Learn to use the fucking tool (the hammer) to do the job, or get another job.
It usually gets the point across, but people still wont take the time to learn this stuff. It's NEVER going to happen. So, we're going to have to administer the tools for them.

As an ISP, Yes, I expect my customers to keep their machines patched, their AV up to date, and their firewall configured properly. If their system becomes compromised, it is THIER responsibility to clean it up. Not mine.
All that spam grandma's compromised emachine is spewing may lead to my mail servers being blacklisted. At the very least it increases my workload. Sorry. Not going to put up with it.
Once they've cleaned thier mess up (and yes, it IS THEIR mess), I'll let them back on the network. Hell, I dropped a customer entirely a few weeks ago because they kept getting pwned. 10 incidents in 3 months. Sorry, but your $20.00 a month isn't worth *that* much work.
