I had 10 charges in my respec tool yesterday, not counting the initial forced respec. So actually, I had 11 changes total. I used 1 at login, respec'd to smuggler, then I respeced to Trader. I still have 9 left. Not that it matters. This game sucks worse than suck. I took a year off because I was tired of getting fucked over as a Ranger. Came back 2 weeks ago to see what, if anything, had changed. Nothing. Oh wait, no more Rangers. What makes it worse is I even jokingly predicted this 2 years ago on the Ranger board. Christ, I shoulda quit earlier. Would have saved some money at least. Fuck SOE and the Bantha they rode in on. Seriously. I will NEVER buy another SOE OR LucasArts product after this. NEVER.
The sooner we go to mars (skipping stops at the moon), the sooner we can begin to mine Tribinium. The sooner we begin mining, the sooner people will immigrate to mars to work as miners.
A large influx if miners will require cheap, affordable housing, IE; Domes.
The sooner we start building the cheap domes, the sooner the UV and poor living conditions will spark genetic mutations in the nativly born (martians!) population.
The sooner the mutation occur, the sooner I can go visit a martian brothel and get laid by a babe with 3 tits!
And really, isn't *that* why man wants to explore outer space? To meet alien women and have sex with them?;)

3 clicks if you count clicking "yes" on their spyware ridden "installer".
That's another of the reason's why I won't use real player. Just give me a current.exe. What does an "installer" do that the.exe doesn't?
If you click "No", the click "Restart Download" you can download the.exe without using their "installer".
$250.00 a month for savings huh? I wish I had an extras $250.00 a month. Maybe I could buy some groceries that didn't consist of Bread, Milk, Cheese, Shitty Ramen, Mac&Cheese, Soup.
I do enough work for retired folks on fixed incomes and the like that I don't think charging more would be beneficial right now. (Sure, there are people I'd love to charge double the rate to, but we do have published rates....)
Feh. Just tell em you're tired of their (whatever it is that makes them a pain in the ass to work with) and don't have time to take care of them anymore. Almost every time I've done that, they've changed whatever it was that was pissing me off. I've only had one customer go elsewhere, and honestly, none of the other techs in town want to deal with him either. He's already pissed everone else off.
$20.00 trip charge? For what? mileage outside of town? I hope that's not an in-town trip charge.
You know, I think that's very true. I've known several people, besides myself, who got into IT for whatever reason and are now considering leaving.
Very few of them have both the people and the technical skills. I can only think of a couple of us that have "both" skill sets, and as for myself, I think my people skills have atrophied while my tech skills have greatly improved over the last 6 years.
Given a choice, I'd rather have the people skills back. Tech skills, as much fun as it is, leaves one with a pretty small field of possible jobs. Peoples skills truly are the go anywhere do anything skills.
I do know people that do though. Every year. They get away with it too.
5 years, okay my bad. I thought vehicle write off was over the period you expected to actually keep the vehicle, or the period for which it was financed in the case of a loan. In my experience, that's been 3 years.
You're wrong though if you think you have to be a "business" to take these deductions.
Clothes are a uniform expense. If your employer expects you to be in a particular type of clothing everyday, IE; suit and tie, Jeans and a polo shirt, whatever, you CAN legally deduct up to 50% of the retail of those items every year. I've done it. I've also deducted the cost of things like haircuts, and other items required by my employer when I worked in law enforcement. It's called a per diem IIRC.
Uhhh Wait, so you're saying I can buy 230 acres for $1000USD? Assuming you typo'd and meant $100,000USD That's pretty damn good considering the last time my buddy bought farm land it cost him that much for 40 acres.
Otherwise, sorry, couldn't make much sense out of what you said. Something about his mother, a stick of butter and Bill Clinton. Sounds kinky, I'll watch.
Car - Deductable over 3 years. Computers - Deductable over 3 years. Clothes - Deductable up to 50% of retail every year. Fuel, Car ins, repairs etc - Deductable 100% every year. House - Interest is Deductable.
See, the thing about "poor" people paying less taxes, is they can't afford all the deductions that people that make more can. You can't deduct what you can't spend to begin with. If you truly make "a lot" (>50k) and you're getting hammered on taxes, then you're either not spending enough, or you're not doing a very good job of "hiding" what you have. In either case, quit crying about it because you're full of shit.
Quite frankly, I'm glad I don't work directly in the IT field anymore. Computers are so much more enjoyable when it's only a hobby that you can easily walk away from.
No shit. MY family & friends just can't seem to understand why I'm going back to being a LEO. Right there. That's the answer.
I had this GREAT hobby, and fscked it all up by turning it into a career.
Mostly because this sort of thing attracts unwanted attention to an ISP's network.
Not to mention, it can easily turn into a full-time job to sort through all the logs, plan, and implement defeats, and start all over again when the spammer notices his bots aren't working and sends out something new.
They probably are. When I hear my customers say that, my first response is "What do you do for a living?" MY second response is "Do you know how to use 'x' tool?"
I pretty much tell them flat out that yes, it is a tool. A computer is just like a hammer. It lets you do a particular job, IE get email. Learn to use the fucking tool (the hammer) to do the job, or get another job.
It usually gets the point across, but people still wont take the time to learn this stuff. It's NEVER going to happen. So, we're going to have to administer the tools for them.
Go comcast! It would be nice if RoadRunnner would do the same thing.
I've spent the last 6 years "educating" computer/internet users. With very few exceptions, the vast majority of them still "don't get it". I'm more than happy to help people with this stuff, but I won't do it for free any longer. Better to be a well-paid whore, than just a whore.
As an ISP, Yes, I expect my customers to keep their machines patched, their AV up to date, and their firewall configured properly. If their system becomes compromised, it is THIER responsibility to clean it up. Not mine.
All that spam grandma's compromised emachine is spewing may lead to my mail servers being blacklisted. At the very least it increases my workload. Sorry. Not going to put up with it.
Once they've cleaned thier mess up (and yes, it IS THEIR mess), I'll let them back on the network. Hell, I dropped a customer entirely a few weeks ago because they kept getting pwned. 10 incidents in 3 months. Sorry, but your $20.00 a month isn't worth *that* much work.
Nice analogy. "Pinkertons" is already trying to control things. That's why we have RBLs and things of that nature.
When we finally get so fed up that we hire a real "police force" we'll end up with something like DNS where mail servers will have to be registered with a central authority of some type.

This is either a *really* old issue and I've already patched for it, or it's so new MS doesn't have a patch for it yet.
Either way, I don't see anything about it on the windows update site.
No. That's not at all true.
Here in the US corporations have MORE rights and superior status than the individual.
It's okay if you want to bash the US, but at least get your facts straight.

No one cares that your care can't stop properly. Well, except that busload of school kids.

Politicians, on both sides of the spectrum, are retarded.

What makes you think gas hog=polluter?
All it really means is they're not very efficient.

Which is really a shame because THAT discussion was actually more valuable THAN the main topic itself.
I have mod points, but I make it a rule not to waste them on AC posts.
Which is really a shame because discussion that was actually more valuable that the main topic itself was.
Of course, having posted this, I'm no longer able to mod it anyhow.
I'd be willing to bet that they already know all about it.
They probably just don't have an effective way of billing you for it/preventing it though.
