i fail to see where the problem is. Every linux distro has all those api's and they are installed by default. Do you have a problem with disk space or something? You don't need more than a gigabyte of disk space to install all of them. You install all those "backwards compatibility" dll's in windows and a whole "backward compatible" operating system in macs, and you complain that you have to install both gtk and qt?

Some people like to have as little crap installed on the system as possible, and would like to just have one unified API that is there, and nothing else. Not to mention it hurts consistancy and ease of use when every app uses different widgets.
As for the macs, some of us delete our Classic folder

why is that? make no mistake, if X11 were not good nobody would be using them. The truth is that despite some drawbacks, there is nothing better out there. X11 functionality is still not matched by either windows or macintosh *or* terminal server solutions.

Be realistic people. You seriously think abortion is going to ever be abolished? It's here and it's not going anywhere... it's on such a massive scale that you cannot possibly stop it; even if it is eliminated legally there will still be "back alley" abortions.

So why not USE the fetuses that are BEING ABORTED ANYWAY. Let me repeat myself. Use the fetuses that are BEING ABORTED ANYWAY, whether it's because of rape or incest, the mother just not wanting the child, or some other case. I'm NOT saying abort babies for the purpose of stem cells... but when we have fetuses being aborted every day for other reasons, why not put them to use?

    A funny story about that..

As soon as I heard about it I sent an email to a girl I know who has a horrible tendancy to believe these things explaining that it was a hoax. The following conversation ensued.

First, the important back end to the punchline: Her comptuer at the time was an old Compaq Presario, 200mhz, 32 megs of RAM, and Windows95
    Her: I deleted that file
Me: I told you it was a hoax
Her: Yeah but I had the file on my computer!
(I decide to take this and run with it)
Me: I told you it was a hoax for a reason, now if you shut your computer down you aren't going to be able to start it back up again.
(she signs off and isn't seen online again for about a week)
Her: Colin am I ever going to be able to turn off my computer?

She BELIEVED me and actually left her dinosaur Win95 box running for a week straight. I was surprised after running that long she was able to get on to AOL 6.0 and IM me without the system falling to its knees in a spectacular stream of 30 BSODs.
