The real question, the one that Microsoft will be betting on is will the average joe-blow passport user, such as your project manager boss, who uses outlook, is...
How can this make things more convenient for me?
The average computer user knows very little about Microsoft's abuses since he or she is not of the slashdot microcosm.
This will work, because in the eyes of financial-saavy people and corporations, Microsoft is a rock-solid company.
My question is, why hasn't Red Hat jumped all over this? It's risky, but if it pays off, people will be demanding that software companies create games and office suites for our Linux.
Red Hat has a good thing going, but couldn't it get better? Will this push Mandrake ahead of RedHat in terms of popularity?
Note that for space reasons, the KDEI (KDE i18n) series could not be included on this ISO, and I apologize for the inconvenience. If you need KDE translations, you can pick them up here:
Other things that aren't on this disc that you might need to pick up "a la carte" include the boot floppy images and rootdisks (if you can boot this CD-ROM, you won't need these), ZipSlack, and the source code. All of these extras are available from our FTP site:
The RIAA will use this to their advantage if they are not doing so already. If the P2P community does not stay one step ahead, the RIAA will literally make Gnutella and other file sharing systems useless.
When Hemos ask the question "Will Evolution change Microsoft?" I feel obligated to say that evolution has theorically changed pond scum into human beings, but the downside is that it took millions on years.
I agree with you to a certain point, but by not releasing the source on an alpa or beta level project, they are losing most of the benefit of open source, which is the community.
Are they forgetting that there are thousands of programmers out there willing to audit their source code for free, or are they just afraid that they will lose a few bucks by people trying to compile around their '$99 preview fee', which seems extremely steep to me.
Won't having a swap file instead of a partition actually create problems with disk fragmentation? IIRC, it is the growing and shrinking of files that causes fragmentation, not having extra partitions on the drive.

Hmm... I guess that since I Create C++ Programs that run on a Linux and Windows OS, I am in violation of this copyright.
On a side note, if Kodak wins this, they will probably go after MS next due to the OOP syntax and the CLR of.NET
MS Creates a language that is similar to Java, and even though it has been left unsaid by MS, they would like to lure Java programmers away fron Sun and towards.NET.
MS Creates ads in DDJ and other tech publications with benchmarks that show C# trouncing Java J2EE.
This is almost certianly a FUD tactic in retaliation to MS trying to lure developers away from the Java platform.
Fox did not give the show a chance with the new actors. Granted, the idea of trying to revitalize an old show with new actors is lame, but why does fox insist on aborting all of their new ideas in their infancy(The Tick, The Lone Gunmen, etc.)?
My cousin works as the editor for the X files, and she was pessimistic about the success of the show with the new actors, but they could have at least given it a chance!
Oh, well, there are always re-runs. I hope that the show goes into syndication soon, because I am missing it already.
Unless you have digital cable or HDTV, the TV Programs will be far from 'perfect'. Why does it matter anyway? You are already making 'copies' on the TIVO hard drive. A person could do this with any cature software and a capture card hooked up to a PC. It would be a hell of a lot easier than doing a USB CD-R(w) mod.
Pick up the biggest wooden staff-like object that you can find, then threaten to bean them with it if they do not produce.
Sure your'e not serious, but they don't know that.

I could be that ISS does not want another PR fiasco like the one that it got when it released the Apache advisory recently
No, But the SQL is much better!

fobbit.com seems to be /.'ed at the moment. Here is the page on Google Cache.
It happens... Maybe someone was just bored. Oh well, it's *only* slashdot right? :)

That Lindows has more in common with the Redmond OS than just a similar name?
I thought about replacing the URL on the signs with http://goatse.cx.
I wonder what that would do for their business.
When burgers are dropped on the floor, the meat is usually thrown away. Maybe instead they will break them up and put them into the 'Burger Vat'.
Oh well, the food can't get *that* much worse, can it?

For that matter, do you even want dead-tree books, or are eBooks and/or online documentation sufficient?
I can just imagine the poll...
Favorite book format:
1. Dead Tree.
2. E-Book.
3. Cowboy Neal's naked body and a pen.

You know, I was riding in the car today with two Malaysians, an African, and a New Zealander.
Sounds like the beginning of a very raunchy and racist joke!
