  1. Demeaning? on Phishing Is a Minimum-Wage Job · · Score: 1

Sorry the only reason such a job is demeaning to many people is because they have an exaggerated estimate of their own worth.

Look, when push comes to shove, when your children need to be fed, there is no job demeaning in THEIR eyes.

To be up front, I have more respect for the men and women at McDonalds than I have for the majority of government employees, especially elected officials. The fact that some people see those jobs as demeaning only shows that society has its values screwed up.

Work is better than no work, and illegal anything is never work. Its just an excuse to cover a fragile ego. That same ego is probably the whole reason they cannot do better. You cannot improve until your willing to accept where you are.

    HELLOOOO

Why do you think they are not? Simple because their budget isn't there. They can't pie in the sky because they aren't getting money. They don't generate enough votes.

Politicians look for votes. Our money buys them votes. As such they will put the money to where it gets the most votes for the least investment. NASA is a large investment for a small return, 10 billion spent at NASA doesn't cover nearly as many votes as 10 billion on a new bridge or entitlement program. I am quite sure they have lots of CE projects on file, they just know they will not even get a hearing because the politicians are more concerned about feeding the greed of America's new looter class because that class keeps them in power.

Science and Math will become a priority when they generate votes. Just like your child's education, when those kids can vote then education will become a priority, they don't worry about the parents because every parent thinks their school is fine - its just those other schools. Hence education gets dumbed down, kids don't learn, instead of wanting to become a scientist they want to play ball and space sits out there waiting for a nation driven by pride and hard work will be the one to exploit it.

Sorry, read Atlas Shrugged to see a mini version of what is going on now. It will only get sillier as the months. This act should be called "Employee Intimidation Act" because it means shops can now be unionized through simple intimidation. Hopefully if it ever passes the Supreme Court will get it fast and nuke it just as fast.

Why intimidation? Simple, the intent to form requires a signature, during which the people who want it can stand over you till you sign it, take note if you don't, and imply what they want. This is how the formation process works now. The safety net has always been the secret ballot (secret from both union and corporation) so that people who were intimidated one way or another (more so by the pro union people) can vote how they truly feel. Hence unions lose a majority of attempts and needed a "legal" way to circumvent freedom of choice that too them was "freely making the wrong choice"

Sorry, I know its PC to not like places like Wal-Mart and such; this bill is more targeted at them than anywhere but the simply fact is that the poor will suffer more from higher prices if such crap goes through. Worse you will see no benefit actually filter down to low wage employees because it is always the union leadership which benefits from unionizing a shop.
