  1. Re:The negative on The World's Cheapest Car Set To Launch · · Score: 1

    To all of the replies:
You're thinking too small a scale. My original comment was speaking to the effect of making automobiles super-affordable, in general. They won't necessarily be replacing motorbikes, simply adding to the total number of vehicles on the road. They won't be used only in rural areas, eventually low cost cars will make it into other markets to the people that wouldn't otherwise be able to afford one. Yeah, a more modern 4-cycle engine will be better than the 2-cycle stuff, but the bigger picture is in production of the vehicle, maintenance, and end of life problems.
I guess, my original thought was that more effort should go into mass transit (yes, I know...rural areas...got it!) or better infrastructure (in this case, more accommodating to the existing bikes) instead of shoving more vehicles onto the roads.

  2. The negative on The World's Cheapest Car Set To Launch · · Score: 3, Insightful

I can't help but think of the negative effect this will have. Getting people off of their bikes (motor or otherwise) can't be good for fuel consumption, polution during and after the life of the vehicle, and roadway congestion to name a few.

Is Microsoft simply to include every freakin' competing application on it's install disc There are reasons why company's products don't get used as much as others....distributing it using a competitor's resources isn't going to make the software sucks less, it'll just get the unsuspecting casual user to use it.

$40 billion dollars is a lot of money, true, but it's not just to send a few guys on a joy ride.
Because of the space program, we have:
Filtration systems that have a better than 90% efficiency,
    Better sunglasses have,
    Better water purification processes,
    Better solar energy technology,
    Better stronger alloys and plastics
even a little more of an idea on how to make food taste better.

Actually, yes, the speed IS the bottlekneck when you talk about CDs. CDs all store the information in pits and landings, that happen to be the same (within margin) size on every CD. This is exactly why a DVD drive spinning slower, or as you point out, a hard drive, will be able to transfer faster than CDs, while still spinning slower: The data density per square inch is higher. Higher Data Density on a media (assuming the reading device can keep up) and raising the rotation speed BOTH affect transfer rates.
