    I fail to see how the Incas were a non-western civilisation. The lived in 'the west' (compared to europe), and they certainly had an advanced civilisation, even if they didn't have the wheel or horses.

    We are looking for them with radio telescopes. If they are less advanced than we are then we wouldn't know they were there. The chances that they are exactly the same level of technology as us is rather slim, so anybody we find would be mode advanced than us.

    Laser beam has more bandwidgth than radio, but it still travels at the same speed (c).

    And the distance mentioned (1.5 million kilometres) doesn't seem very useful. thats too far for the moon, but not far enough for Mars - theres nothing out there to talk to.

    Doesn't blockbuster have a similar service to netflix - but with the added advantage that you can return the movies to the store as well as posting them.

    In the end it will be thte one with the greatest selection of titles that will win out.

    I think you mean quadraplegic. According to Wikipedia:

    A quadrupole is one of a sequence of configurations of electric charge or gravitational mass that can exist in ideal form, but it is usually just part of a multipole expansion of a more complex structure reflecting various orders of complexity.

    Since the whole world (with the exception of the USA) uses the metric system, why not change to metric music?

    You could use 1000hz as the reference frequency and have a 10 note decave instead of a 12 note octave. (Hey shouldn't an octave be eight notes?)
