    Its a new Windows with a new interface for new computing machinery. You dont upgrade your hardware because you want to run a new OS. Windows just uses hardware acceleration because its included (cpu or gfx) in every sold system nowadays.

    Thats right, but if you want more "advanced" products, you need advanced production systems.
    There are some products that realize a good idea, but look around: new, better products come along with high-tech and feature rich functionality often realized by new materials, more software, state-of-the-art electronics and so on. And that is what brings an economy forward. Examples: Direct Manufactoring (http://dmrc.uni-paderborn.de/en/about-dmrc/?cHash=3be59309b4fe2e5a416267b052bcf74f), Molded interconnect devices (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molded_interconnect_device).

    There are so many research initiatives (at least in germany) to push intelligent systems (buzzword: cyber physical systems) forward.

    I would really like to use a pen with a tablet. So far, only a few alternatives are available. The Galaxy Note is waaaaay to small - it should be at least 10" and comparable to current tablet models. There is the XOOM, but it is (afaik) not available right now.

    Do you have any idea why most companies dont go for the additional input method? Constructive answers much appreciated.

    There are several institutes that research self-repair features of chips.
    To cope with (space) radiation, they use chips that can restructure themselves to avoid damaged parts. Self-repair is an alternative to various shielding layers. A combination of both - in the right mix - would improve reliability by factors.
    See: Same application scenario like the fukushima-crisis (http://tech.slashdot.org/story/12/01/08/1420254/where-were-the-robots-in-fukushima-crisis), where robots could not be used or simply failed in the field.

    Maybe a bit too simple:

    You put time, effort and money into something he wants to sell and make money from.
    Somebody comes along, creates a copy and uses his work for free.
    So, wouldnt you be angry about it?


    There are other aspects and not just everything black and white (overpriced greedy corps and so on), but think about it.
