I thought Conker was just a gimmick game, personally. Does mature just mean it has poop in it? Or does mature mean it has complex, deep characters with real problems? I didn't see any evidence of that. I just saw toilet humor and sex used gratuitously.
The gameplay was alright to me, nothing super stellar. It deserved to sell more, but not the millions some advocated IMO.
I work at a game company, and this year I got Steel Battalion for my XBOX (which was actually an early Christmas gift the company gave to each employee)! I am pretty stoked.
Once again, the astute reader notes that these are things that make any project or methodology succeed (if you substitute clients understanding XP for clients understanding how things work)

If I ever took a job that required me to wear suits everday, I would expect them to reimnburse me for the expense of the clothes and dry cleaning, storage, etc...
Having a closet full of suits would be worthless for me. I couldn't imagine a bigger waste of cash.
I think Wall's usage of the word deconstruct is consistent with the definition you provide, given his explicit mention of languages such as BASIC (viewed as the 'inferior' languages) and other 'superior' languages (like C and Python).
Even saying Perl (a 'superior' language) is based upon the 'inferior' ones is evidence of this.
Warcraft 3 is the fastest selling PC game of all time. It continues to top the charts since its release. In fact, this week is the first time it wasn't #1.
With those kinds of numbers, its obvious Blizzard will do an expansion for it - its easy money!
Now imagine they announced Starcraft 2 would be out next year. That would cannibalize sales of Warcraft 3, and kill any opportunity of an expansion. Everyone would be waiting for Starcraft 2 instead.
This is why they didn't announce Starcraft 2 today. In fact, the PR guys confirmed several days ago that Starcraft 2 isn't even in development - they are focused on making as much as they can from Warcraft 3 right now.
Who knows what will come after the Warcraft III expansion - something with Diablo? Something new? But I don't think we will see Starcraft 2 for at least 3 years.
1. Enterprise encounters new planet/race/ship/widget. 2. T'Pol advises caution. 3. Archer and Tripp mock T'Pol and Vulcans in general. 4. Away team is sent to investigate/explore. 5. T'Pol advises caution. 6. Archer and Tripp mock T'Pol and Vulcans in general. 7. Away team gets in trouble. 8. Something rescues them - usually T'Pol. 9. Archer et al learn no lessons from the experience, and instead just mock T'Pol and Vulcans in general.
I'd say the high concept for the game is The Sims meets Diablo meets Zelda.
You have the house and relationship building from The Sims, along with the item hunting/collecting from Diablo, along with the side quests from Zelda all wrapped up in one.
For those interested, The University of Texas at Dallas offers a similar degree program called Telecommunications Engineering. Its scope is a bit broader than just wireless.
I quit watching it when they kept re-inventing future tech to make up for bad writing and kept giving time to the annoying translator character (who should be obselete by the Universal Translator).
Everyone has just as much right to use the P2P network as you. They can search for whatever they want. Who are you to govern what is a proper use of the tool?

Times aren't bad everywhere; there is hope yet.

People do the same thing with XML too...
I still don't get why it costs a fortune to call across town, but doesn't to call another state.
Why is the pricing structure so bogus?

The rub is that they make up the money on the games (after all how much does a game ACTUALLY cost to make?)
This comment is terribly uninformed.
The short answer: it costs millions of dollars to make a game.
The physical medium (the DVD and package) may only cost a few dollars to reproduce, but the data on that disc costs millions to develop.
You could solve this 'drop table' problem by just disallowing the drop table command.
No need for a complicated software solution to what could simply be solved by the security management system...
Come on guys, it's not that hard.

"Nintendo can't choose what their third parties develop. If third parties keep creating out 'boring' games, it's hardly Nintendo's fault."
Oh yes they can.
They can refuse to sell development hardware to a company if they don't like the title.
And they can refuse to license it, if they don't like the title.
In practice, this isn't done all that much, but make no mistake about it, a console manufacturer VERY MUCH controls the software on the console.
I think he means to say, the flaws in the characters are not really matched with enough positive aspects to make them worth watching.
I really wish they would kill off Hoshi. Every time she speaks, I cringe, because I know she is just going to whine like she is PMSing.
I'd like to amend your episode plan:
1. Enterprise encounters new planet/race/ship/widget.
2. T'Pol advises caution.
3. Archer and Tripp mock T'Pol and Vulcans in general.
4. Away team is sent to investigate/explore.
5. T'Pol advises caution.
6. Archer and Tripp mock T'Pol and Vulcans in general.
7. Away team gets in trouble.
8. Something rescues them - usually T'Pol.

It's quite an entertaining game!
Wow NetJunkie....haven't heard that name in a while...
Agreed.
Humor in real life conversation is conveyed not only through words, but also through body language, tone, and context.
In text, you have none of the first two, and the third can often be impaired.
The simely is one of the few universally recognized ways to do this - it breaks language barriers even!
What more could we ask for from 2 simple characters?
Why is it, nobody seems to be able to make the connection that the drop in CD sales could be because of the poor economy?
Every other industry is blaming their troubles right now on the reduce consumer/business spending, why doesn't the music industry?
It seems obvious to me. Layoffs, salary cuts, etc... mean less discretionary income to spend on stuff like music.
Why is this so hard???
It's almost as bad as saving water! The planet is covered with water!
This is something I never understood.
Water is a renewable resource, and if anything, one of the must abundant on the planet. Why should we go to great pains to save water?
There is no x86 port of iTunes.
The Windows iPod is just a driver to allow Musicmatch to work with it, and changes to the firmware to allow it to read/write a FAT32 disk.
iTunes is still only on the mac. I doubt it would ever be ported to PC, because the iApps are a huge selling point of buying a mac.

Check out UTD's page about the program for more information.

Has anything actually happened with the time traveling cold war plot?
Why does the myth that we never landed on the moon persist?
Why do people still refuse to believe that humans have visited other celestial bodies?
IMO the project needs to be full of full-time designers.
How else do you ensure original, innovative gameplay?
You need a team of game designers formulating ideas for how the game should play, and then executing those ideas.
Programmers and artists are just the vehicles by which the designer achieves his vision.
How arrogant.
