.. and then anything not in line with SJW / PC guidelines, anything 'micro agression', anything incompatible with intersectional thinking, LGBTQIWTF+/- and so on. Do I hear an ultra-left echo chamber there? So glad I cut the FB madness several years ago. I'd like to form my own opinion, thank you.
.. There will always be sick people imagining things in pictures or videos that are not there. There will always be people that are offended by anything you do or say. When you put out stuff on the internet for the whole world to see, there's no way to *NOT* offend or trigger some idiot somewhere on the planet.
Please return to common sense. If a video shows a girl having fun, it's about the girl having fun. Not about to sicko three doors down who has sick fantasies. Turning to censorship will not change that.
No, no, no. You have the culprit right, but the fix is clearly higher taxes. That's one of the three universal fixes: 1. If it's stuck and has to move: WD-40 2. If it moves and needs to be fixed: Ductape 3. If it has the word 'climate' in it: Tax!
According to the WHO and Japanese gouvernment, the direct death toll of the Fukushima disaster was: Zero. https://ourworldindata.org/wha...
The indirect results from radiation related issues and evacuation stress was not zero, but I find it hard to argue that the executives are directly responsible for the deaths of so many people. The tsunami itself caused tremendous devastation and evacuation was a given, with or without the nuclear plant there.
.. I blocked my Samsung smartTV from accessing any domain that contains the word 'samsung'. I have been monitoring the TV on my firewall, and the amount of traffic it generates is ridiculous. Even when it's switched off, it phones home every few seconds. Not acceptible. So pihole takes care of it.
I'm in IT for 35 years now and I can't agree more. What's this obsession with IoT? It's totally ludicrous. It's the Internet of Trouble.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Chinese actually make the firmware so crappy on purpose. We are allowing the Chinese to carpet-bomb our society with millions of backdoored, easily hackable connected devices, allowing a coördinated attack on essential infrastructure, and (to stay in the Trump-bash mode), we pay for it ourselves!
Just a few weeks ago this popped up on the local news in Europe as well.
I did some calculations to find out what it would take to keep a single medium-size airport going when all planes are electric. For this, I took the amount of kerosine pumped into planes every day, and then translated that to the equivalent electric energy. It would take 3 to 4 decent nuclear power plants at every medium-size airport in Europe.
Never mind that getting the energy into the batteries in a reasonable gate turn-around time, you'd need either swappable battery packs, or 100.000V at 2000A connected to each plane. What could possibly go wrong.
Go ahead. Do the math. And find out if reality stands between today and your green Utopia.
As a person of a somewhat older generation I have seen the earth a lot longer than you. And I can tell you, nothing has changed much. Nothing out of the ordinary anyway. Ice has always melded. Storms were always there. Bush fires happened long before you were born. Earthquakes happened long before you were born. Hot and cold winters have been there since forever.
Climate doesn't give a damn about us humans, it changes as it pleases. No taxes or windmills are going to change a damn bit about that. Climate doesn't care if 97% of scientists tell us it's a disaster, as science isn't democratic. It's facts. And the facts are that nothing has changed much.
They have always had external beta testers. Been one from 1994 (Chicago - Win95) all the way to Win7. The problem is that they stopped listening to beta tester feedback with Vista. Everything was locked long before beta releases
Alarmists have a track record of cherry picking data. Unless there's proof that those 4000 species were not carefully selected as the ones on the brink of extinction anyway, I don't buy it. And unless there's proof that this rate is any different than what's normal over a much, much longer time period, I still don't buy it.
It's only a matter of time before the same SJW idiots will demand laws because there are not enough blondes, not enough midgets, not enough LGBTQHAYBDHYHNBS+!@$$ on the board. It's never enough. Either you say NO or you will drown in political correctness.
True. the CoC says that the code is NOT better by X. The problem is that the authors and worshippers of the CoC do not live by those rules. They look at the outcome. They see 'too few women' involved. They see 'a white male' making some nasty remarks. Therefor they brand the developers as racist, misogynist haters who must have blocked minorities from entering code. This is already rearing its ugly head now that they are marking Theo Ts'o as 'rape apologist'. What the heck, folks??!? Are you really going to let that happen? Are you really going to let these groups, who have contributed nothing to the world's greatest open source project, dig through every one's private life and smear them whenever they find something that does not fit *their* agenda? Really???!?
These groups will not rest until every line of code is tagged with identity markers so they can prove that either there's racism going on, or there is equality of outcome for each of their oppressed little butthurt minorities. Never mind the goal of writing great Linux code. As an AC below already mentioned, CoC is a disease.
Would be nice if the Linux developers wouldn't let themselves be dragged into the CoC trap in the first place. If you are worried about developers hurting the open software community by rescinding code, you'd better consider the damage that SJW crap is bringing to sociëty as a whole. Not just Linux, or open source, but to civilization. Common sense has been replaced by eternal butthurts. Yes, Linus has some problems. Yes, he should get some anger control therapy. But there is zero excuse for turning the community over to groups that demand inclusion for the the sake of inclusion, rather than for the sake of progressing the Linux kernel.
There isn't a single line of code that is better because it was written by a gay person, by a woman, by a transgender, by a religious minority or by a 'person of color'. Code is good or code is bad. That's it. If butthurt snowflakes want to be included for their contributions, they'd better start writing Code of Linux, not Code of Conduct crap.
So what he's actually saying is that it's fine to trade speed of a meeting for total destruction of the free Internet. Thank you for once again showing the world what a pile of steaming bovine excrement the EU really is.
Unfortunately these white LED's need a bit of power conversion to run well on 230V AC. So a little converter is built into the base. A converter of dismal quality which fails in two or three years time. LED is fine, converter is broken. Guess what, a whole lot more electronics waste ends up in landfills.
Not only that, but despite the touted 30.000 hour life span of LED lights, I have already had to replace several in my house, while the old-fasioned, simple tungsten bulbs keep going, and going, and going.
OK, so let me get this right. Windows-95 ran fine on real hardware with 4MB of memory, and 16MB on a high-end system. And now this guy is delighted to have the same stuff running in 'only 200MB'??
Kinda odd to see the outrage over this. A few years ago USA used the exact same tactics to penetrate Iranian nuclear facilities, releasing the Stuxnet virus which damaged a lot of critical infrastructure. Back then there were plenty of people here gloating over this and being proud of the accomplishments.
My guess is that this is happening all over the world, by all major regimes, in all vulnerable areas. Anger or pride only depends on if your country is the hacker or the victim.
.. and then anything not in line with SJW / PC guidelines, anything 'micro agression', anything incompatible with intersectional thinking, LGBTQIWTF+/- and so on. Do I hear an ultra-left echo chamber there?

I find it fascinating that you assume I am in the US, or a US citizen. Which I am not.

...Anyone who SAYS they can is in ACTUALITY ***STEALING*** from someone else to PAY you
They call that 'Government', and they don't call it 'stealing', because 'tax' sound so much better.

The word of the year is 'Blokkeerfries', you insensitive cloth!
.. I'm sure some new tax will be invented to Save the Rings of the Evil of Mankind
If you do not want Facebook to track you, then GET OFF Facebook!
Facebook provides its 'services' to you for free. That means *YOU* are the product.
Plenty such runway available. People call them 'Highways'. And the planes on them 'cars' or 'busses'.

Flacks, pundits, lawyers and other propagandists lies don't make climate alarmist numbers any more credible.
