I do agree that they should make the signup page for the bulletins more prominent, but automatically signing people up for something is bad. Email lists and such things should always be opt-in. Even if the email is something everyone should get.
It is quite sad to see that the former l0pht (hopefully you remember them), who went corporate and melted into @stake, have joined the "coalition against full disclosure of computer vulnerability information". I'm amazed that Mudge and Weld Pond would turn full circle and endorse this sort of thing. The l0pht were the sort of people who stood for full disclosure. Too bad they have made this decision. I have lost my respect for them.
Netbeans is Open Source

Java IDEs?

Netbeans is a kick ass, open source Java IDE. Everyone at my company swears by it. It is even able to update itself. It is quite well written and has every feature I need.
We use SuSE to host our Oracle 8i databases. It works great. Much better than Solaris, in my opinion. We are also looking into running 9i application server. Not many people know this, but oracle 9iAS is actually just Orion that has been repackaged by oracle.
In the article it stated that FreeBSD had the changes checked into their CVS tree on October 6th. Linux did not have the updated drivers until November 5th. That's a whole month ahead.
If the DoJ started looking for a settlement, obviously Microsoft will come up with something that seems, on the surface, to be a loss. The thing I wonder, is the DoJ as stupid as they appear, or do they just not care anymore?
I think VIA could contend with Intel and AMD if they bought the Crusoe and Transmeta and merged them with the old Cyrix processors that they already produce. A third major processor manufacturer is exactly what we need. Increase the competition between Intel and AMD that is already doing wonders for the advancement of processors in general.
Voting by IP address would be even worse. ISPs would control the whole thing. Take a look at the ARIN registry some time. Is your name listed as the owner of your IP address? I didn't think so.
Microsoft is obviously not interested in making a better product in Windows XP. This product is expressly for making money. The whole license concept behind XP is the reason for its existance.
There are already too many places and softwares that are only compatible with IE. For instance, Webtrends in addition to just generally sucking, only works with IE. This is a problem, since the webtrends marketing department has implanted the idea that webtrends is the best in every pointy-haired boss.
If you have a problem with noise from inside an enclosed computer cabinet, you should look into putting sound foam on the inside of the cabinet. It works great.
Also, during your talk at USENIX Security '01 you talked about different ways that you are keeping backups of your data. Including having other sites ready to host the data at a moment's notice, and sending out backups of the site to whoever wants copies. You had also mentioned work on a distributed storage system that would be more resistant to having one node shut off. Have you made any progress with this?
I would like to know if you have been more careful about what material you publish, in light of the terror attacks on September 11th?
In a talk that you gave to the USENIX Security '01 you had mentioned that you try to publish most anything that is given to you that fits within your guidelines. Basically, have you changed those guidelines at all?

At least eEye are keeping their heads about them.
"No offense intended."
Tick:
"None comprehended."

Ahhh, Christmas Island. Home of Goat Sex.

I wonder when they will introduce the biometric colon scanner to screen people on their way in the door? I can see it now:
"Excuse me sir, could you step over here?"
"Why?"
"This will only take a moment. Take this plastic protector and slip it over the probe in the middle of that chair over there. Then just have a seat."
Super Colon Blow anyone?
Hmm.. The link didn't make it. Here it is again.
Don't forget Dan Simmons's Hyperion series.
They are a great set of books, and a great epic story. He is no relation to me, by the way. Here is a page about him.

Crackheads!!! Its payday!
Millions of Amazons living in a rainforest in South America were saved by a pack of penguins wielding laptops loaded with Linux.
If this knock off doesn't obey reqion encoding, I'm buying it.
Here is a good article about the iPod on geek.com.
When you turn on the commercial skip feature, and your watching QVC does the screen just go blank?

I wonder if they can run LegOS? Oops, did I say LegOS.
Sorry, LEGO, my bad! Please don't sue me.
