  1. Re:A couple of others on Videogame Places You're Not Supposed To Go · · Score: 1

Another one for Link's Awakening. One quest you are supposed to escort some girl from one village to another so she can do something. But there is a glitch where you could hit start or select (forget which) while change screens and warp to a matching place on the next screen, i.e. leave the screen in the upper right hit start at the right time and you end up on the next screen in the same upper right location. Using this you could bypass the screen where the girl would leave you and have her travel around with you some more. But you couldn't enter dungeons or anything with her. And later on there is a spot where you are supposed to meet her again and if you still had her following you, you could freeze the game.

  2. Microsoft actually got this one right... on How Do I Talk To 4th Graders About IT? · · Score: 4, Funny

As much as I hate to say it, MS actually got one right. They ran a webcomic (Heroes Happen Here) for a while, most of it wasn't too great. The 1st page is a kid asking his dad what he does for a living so he can give a school presentation about it. The dad goes on about what he does as a developer and it goes way over the kids head. So the kid tells everyone his dad drives an ice cream truck.

Lets go with there being 2 possibilities:
    a) Extraterrestrial colonizers don't exist.
    b) Extraterrestrial colonizers do exist.

    Then we have two choices:
    a) No one is in the way, let's spread out from this planet before something makes this place uninhabitable
    b) There are others out there, lets get a chunk of the universe for ourselves before we are out competed for it and and something makes earth uninhabitable.

If there are Extraterrestrials out there slowly colonizing their way towards us, we need to be in a position to do unto them before they do like wise. I find it hard to imagine anything like the Trek Federation forming. Equal dealings like that can only happen between equals, just look at human history. Any time a more advanced civilization meets a lesser, it is squashed. Any one that is out there will be just like us, the offspring of the meanest sneakiest critter that crawled out of the ooze and any peaceful deals will either not last long. We need to get off this rock before we are found unready.

  4. Creating Images for multiple platforms on Creating XP Disk Images w/ Company Applications? · · Score: 1
You might want to give this document a look: http://center.wwrc.net/ImageCreation.doc. I just started making the images for my company, but my predecessor said this was invaluable. We're only using maybe 10 models of PC/laptop, 1 IBM, 1 Compaq, and the rest from Dell, and we've gotten one image to work for all of them.

The two major issues seem to be drivers and ACPI. If you've got similiar enough hardware, shouldn't be a big deal for drivers. And for ACPI, they either all need to have it on or off in BIOS, can't have a mix.

After you prep it to your satisfaction, run sysprep and your image tool of choice. Just beware of those applications that do things like hardcode a computer name in there install somewhere, apps like that will need to be done post image and you could use vbs/wise or something similiar to script that portion.

Granted I don't think it would be any different if there were to be dedicated buttons, most people are just used to doing it this way.
