As do millions of Americans, it's just you were at the biggest tourist trap in the world so of course every yahoo with a trailer hitch and an airstream was there. Check out any major or even minor city people do it everyday and some of them are actually good at it.
sorry I hate when some one from another country comes and sees the smallest slice of life and starts generalizing about the whole country.
If someones DVD updates the firmware on a piece of equipment that I OWN then they had better be prepared to either buy me a new one (especially if their update breaks it) or get sued. Remember the Sony debacle.
Huh? Apple doesn't make hardware? Actually they are primarily a hardware company. They produce an operating system and some apps for their systems but there is no doubt that Apple is a hardware company.
Get it through your head you are not an IT manager. As your title states you are a sys admin, From what you've said your job is to keep things running not to make sweeping changes.
...would probably make them more willing to shell out for it in the first place
Oh yes, because I see so much open source software making money on sales. More likely it would be copied and passed around on the p2p networks with no worries. I personally don't think games will ever do well as open source, to much capital has to be spent on development to allow anyone to give it away. You also would have massive cheats created for any network play which has killed several games.
SBC broadband internet does not have common carrier status , nor does any other internet service provider in the US. Why this common misconception persists is a mystery to me. They are coverd by the term Enhanced Service Provider (ESP), in the telecom world common carrier status carries may burdens and regulations that no ISP wants nor does the fcc want to grant it. so please lets stop making this claim as it is completely false.
The problem with the portable units is the drip pan (for the condensation) tends to fill up during extended use causing the unit to turn off until the pan is emptied. They have a small plugged tube in the back near the bottom, this needs to run to a drain for continued use.
The Idea behind the The Long Now Foundation is to think about the future, not in the terms of tomorrow or next week or even next year, but int the terms of next century and next millenium and so on. They want us to have a far reaching view of the future so as to understand our actions have consequences beyond our generation.

DynamicDNS works for me
It's actually news to me that Linux deals with clicks at all. I thought that was more in the realm of the X-Window (or Xorg) project.
Too bad it does not upgrade firefox too.
If he got an F then I am guessing there is some part of this story that he has omitted.

ICANN Has nothing to do with IP Address allocation, I believe it is IANA that is in charge of that function.
I think the award was more for the dye then the bubbles.
No Pixar wants to make a movie a year, as it is now they release them about once every two years.
I thought FFMpeg wasn't a codec but a compilation of programs to encode audio and video.
Sorry, but big words do not make up for and an empty argument.

How can you call the most prevalent x86 server cpu the redheaded step child. I would say the itanium was the redheaded stepchild not the popular xeon.

I have to wonder if this has anything to do with the the Long Now Foundation.
would you be able to say the same if you had worked on the manhatten project though.
