    it's not so mucht the OSs that are hurt, but more software companies that made browsers and videoplayers.

    for how much i understand the matter it was about false competition and selling (bundeling for free) products under the marketproce to gain a 'illegal' market advantage.

    in the netherlands this is used for a long time to track the whereabouts of criminals. it's also used as evidence (at least the phone was on the scene of the crome during the crime) and it's used for mapping the criminal network (who's calling who).

    criminals are aware of this and change phones regularly ;)

    what a waste of time.
    i wanted to add my mp3 files on my server.
    ( //server/mp3 ) but i have to add all directories separately or map the share.

    a big library of all my files? very nice, but it's scanning behaviours are so strange it adds files twice.

    and why the F### do i get a winamp2 player in the right bottom of my screen together with the winamp5 player?

    nope. if i want to take pictures i take a camera, not a mobile phone.
    if i want to listen to music i use winamp2 and not winamp5.

    no bad words about the uninstall option (so far anyway)

    i could also remember something of a service that will sms an anternative route based on the gatered statistics. but again, no source.

    (little bit OT, but in a way related)

    cellphones are used to track traffic jams. if phones follow a certain path they're likely to be in a car and is the phone stays in a certain zone for longer than t and more phones have the same behaviour it's likely there is a traffic jam.

    this system has shown to be quite accurate.

    as far as i know it's not policy in OS to push the product on the market as fast as possible.

    besides. there is a difference. you pay big time for a MS product. therefore you should get some quality in return.

    the answer is very simple. it's the M$ marketing model.
    make a product first and sell it and worry about the bugs later.
    why would you spend $$$ bedugging something that works while you can wait for others to find the bugs for you. that saves $$$. and look at their market share. this approach works fine.

    also this will only work for private mail.
    i can imagine a (not-spamming) commercial website telling people to put "qwerty" in their e-mail. not.

    but the idea is whitelisting. only allow a selected group of people to send you mail.

    for a company i can imagine the use of a html-form to "send" mail. for spammers it would be too much trouble to find a lot of those forms and write scripts ao spam them.
